Playoff race/Scoreboard watching thread

Scoreboard watching for Tuesday night...

Caps @ Bruins - 7PM: I believe the Bruins are "done" but no harm if the Caps reinforce it :)
Cats @ Habs - 7PM: Cats let us down in the last game...they owe us! But as my Cats loving buddy told me towards the last game...the Habs have their number :( Cats must win to keep pace with Bolts and Leafs.
Bolts @ Isles - 7:30PM: Let's Go Bolts. Isles have lost three in a row. Bolts must win to keep pace with Cats and Leafs.
Wings at Blues - 8PM: Hoping the Blues stay hot.
Sunggerud debut with STL

Nashville saving Saros for us. That's ok though, I have the ultimate trump card, I'll start him on my fantasy team.
Hope you guys appreciated this

Need 7 or 8 wins out of the last 10. The rest will take care of itself. Just going to focus on us from now on

1 tonight.

Sam Reinhart with that fumble did serious damage to our playoff odds.
The only good news there is Montreal did not get a regulation win. If we win our next game in regulation we tie them on regulation wins, but lose on ROW, still if we have more regulation wins by the end of the season it might help

Yep, that’s a (very, very) small silver lining; at least it was in OT. If we win our “extra” game, we’ll be tied with them in points and RW. So if we each finish, hypothetically, 4-3-1 in our final eight, but all of our wins are regulation and only 3 of their 4 are, at least that’ll bump us over them.

I said before tonight I thought NYI and Detroit were basically done, and even moreso now. Stranger things have happened, but I think NYI is dead, and the plug has been pulled on Detroit with limited time left to plug it back in to put them back on life support. Truly appears to be a 3-team race.

I was at the CBJ game last night, I didn't necessarily think it was a well played game by either team (clearly worse for Nashville) but all the scoring was fun. If we play like that the rest of the way I think we lose plenty of games. Was scoreboard watching during the breaks in the action and texting with my buddy in South Florida who is primarily an Isles fan but bandwagons the Cats and right now is cheering for Cats 100% to win and Isles 100% to lose. He said the 2-1 lead the Panthers had vs Habs was their first lead in the entire series vs them this season. Habs had their number. Doesn't ease the pain of the Habs stealing two points though...so freaking close.

We say "F*** the Panthers" but this is our own fault, we lost two very winnable games against a not-good Habs team earlier in the season and now it's coming back to haunt us.

There is still time to catch them but on paper the Habs have the far easier looking schedule (just one back to back and 5 of 8 vs non-playoff teams) while we still have two back to backs which we have been disastrous in and 3 of 9 vs non-playoff teams).

vs Bruins
vs Flyers
@ Preds
vs Wings
@ Sens
@ Leafs (second half of back to back)
vs Hawks
@ Canes

We have...

vs Avs
@ Leafs
@ Sens (second half of back to back)
vs Sens
vs Sabres
vs Caps
@ Caps (second half of back to back)
@ Flyers
vs Isles

I'll add to this. Montréal's game against Nashville is the second of a back-to-back. The Canadiens do not have that advantage against any of their remaining opponents. Colorado has a game the day before they face Columbus. So does Ottawa before their first game against Columbus in your list, just as Columbus.

Now, I don't know if other teams see as significant a performance drop in back-to-backs the way the Blue Jackets do, so it might not make a difference.

If you’re watching Wild-Rags, you just saw Minny’s defense take a cue from blast night’s Panthers team in how to really f*** up the CBJ’s playoff chances. Fortunately it’s still the second period.
