Playoff race/Scoreboard watching thread

But we have enough difficult schedule too.
I understand. My point is that their four wins in last five games are against bad teams so unconvinced they are suddenly a good team again. Let's see how they handle real competition.

It's Tuesday, we are back on the ice @ Bolts who are playing the second half of back to backs. Lots of other games important to us going on as well...

Preds @ Bruins: Let's Go Preds. I am not very hopeful for this game, without any moves yet, the Bruins veteran squad is still intact and trying to make the playoffs. Until something happens this team is still dangerous.

Canes @ Wings: Let's Go Canes. Some might not agree with me here but I think it's more important to improve our WC positioning where we currently are sitting rather than hoping we can catch the Canes in front of us. I think we can all agree the worst outcome is an overtime three point game. Wings gotta be feeling the heat after losing two straight games to us.

Flames @ Flyers: Let's Go Flames. I feel like I keep rooting for the Flames and they keep letting me down. And yet...they are currently holding on to the last WC spot in the West. Seems like neither Calgary or Vancouver really wants the spot. Meanwhile, with Torts looking like Count Rogen, I look at the Flyers and think "Good heavens, are you still trying to win?"

Jets @ Isles: Let's Go Jets. The Flyers and Jets have the same point percentage so if I am watching one I guess I am watching the other. The difference is that the Isles can't get out of their own way and are foundering while the Flyers still seem competitive and surprising opponents.

Devils @ Stars: Let's Go Stars. This might be last but definitely not least. If we could win tonight and the Devils lose we would be just three points behind them (considering we get embarrassed by the #1 tiebreaker) with two games at hand. Miraculous really. We are five points out of the #3 Metro spot with two games at hand and three points ahead of the top non-wild card spot.

Bonus games...
Pens @ Avs and Wild @ Kraken: Let's Go Avs and Kraken. I know it's a small thing but if the Avs win (likely) and Wild lose (maybe), the Wild would drop out of third and into the WC spot. That's a playoff matchup with Vegas rather than Dallas. I guess neither is likely to go well for the Wild. That 1st round pick for Jiricek is looking more like a top twenty pick as the season drags on.

Damn, this was a missed opportunity.

Damn, this was a missed opportunity.
Missed opportunity (I am sure the fans of all those teams said the same thing. Even my Isles fan buddies were not happy (they want to lose at this point). The good news is that no team of significance gained on us.

spencer knight absolutely stole the hawks a win in his debut for them last night against LA. let’s hope he does it again against the pesky sens.
Yes he did. Sens are 13-16-3 on the road and Hawks 12-15-3 at home...could this be a toss up?

Wednesday's Games...

Caps @ Rangers: Let's Go Caps. Rangers have not beaten anyone of significance beating us a month ago. I like the Caps chances in this one.

Sens @ Hawks: Let's Go Hawks. Odds are against us getting a good outcome but who knows...maybe Knight is a savior (at least for one more game).
-----------------------
On a side note, some key games in the Western Conference...

Ducks @ 'Nucks: Ducks are still kinda hanging around...like bottom team still with a Wild Card chance if they go on a heater. A win tonight puts them four points behind the Flames for the final WC spot. Totally do-able. Canucks have lost two in a row and are 4-5-1 in last ten while Ducks are 6-3-1. Could get more interesting after tonight.

Blues @ Kings: Kings have lost three in a row while Blues have 14 points in last ten games. Kings (at the moment) are not really in danger of falling out of the #3 spot in the Pacific but the Blues are already right behind the Canucks and a win definitely bumps them up in a tightening race.

Tough loss for the Devils. After coming back from 3-1 to tie the Stars, the Stars score the game winner with 3 or 4 seconds too go in the third. I thought that only happened to the CBJ.
