Another thing putting it into perspective. Outside the top three forwards (all are pre-Chia draft picks except Connor, but he was a no brainer), the remaining 9 forwards
in last night's lineup have combined for 15G, 37 A, 52 Pts. That's right, a whole one point more than Draisaitl alone. That crew has a combined 252 games played this year, so the rest of the forwards are combining approximately one point every 4.8 games on average. All nine players combined total less than 2 points in total per game in a league that is scoring about 3 goals per game. Over the last 8 games, those 9 players have combined for 10 points. No wonder the team is 2-6 over those 8 games.
That's Chiarelli's contribution to this team. Granted his defense is marginally better than the tirefire he inherited, but the forward depth is as desolate as it has ever been.
The only saving grace this season has been a boatload of luck in having his son come out of nowhere, but he isn't included in these numbers as he was out of the lineup last night.
