Playoff Predictions

USA's max level is higher than for the swiss. They score 5-6 goals in many games. In the first period in the Norway game where they were up 4-1 I thought this was going to end 10-1. But it ended 5-5 in regulation, after they had a meltdown.
So at the same time USA's bottom level are lower than for the Swiss. The swiss are very stable and conceed very few goals.

If USA are 2-0 down they will have a hard time, as this swiss are very good at controlling the games and shutting down the opponent.

I hold the swiss as slight favorites due they being so stable and good at controlling the games. USA has to hit their max level tomorrow to take the title.

I'm picking USA over Swiss.

For only one reason. It is very hard for a top team to beat another top team twice in same tourney. Swiss won round robin game. I'll be very happy for whoever wins though.

Sweden over Denmark. I feel for the Swedes. That was a damn near A team. A medal would be good. I'm not sure ehlers would make team Sweden.

Obviously.. happy for Swiss or Danes to win. Nothing personal.

Ehlers would make our team. He is alot better than Marcus Johansson.

So did I, which means if I’m going to remain at 50% on my predictions… that means the USA will lose the gold medal game, since I picked us to win. Damnit!

Reminds me of a side note… if I gambled on sports (which I don’t) I would probably make it a personal “policy” to always bet against my own team. If we win, then I can be happy that we won, and not really care that I lost money on the bet. If we lose, then winning money on us losing softens the blow of losing.

Er... so I was actually 2-0 on predicting the medal games. I'd like to claim some kind of credit for that, but if I'm going to be completely honest they were just kind of random guesses (okay picking Sweden over Denmark for bronze wasn't really just a random guess I suppose). So that makes 2-2 in the quarterfinals, 1-1 in the semifinals, and 2-0 in the medal games, for 5-3 overall. Still not good.

I bet on the U.S. Olympic team in 2010 when Crosby scored the Golden Goal. Best money I ever lost. (smile)
