Hope theyre all healthy. I like it, though. Maybe asham over pyatt. Maybe.
 
When people start coming back I think you gotta go with:

1. Hags-Step-Cally//I love this line because it won't be shut down, something we have had a problem with over a pretty long period of time. We get shut down completely for long stretches.

2. Zucc-Richards-Nash//This line takes consideration from our opponent in a PO's series. That is worth alot. You want a certain D out against Nash etc. With Zucc's and BR's playing making ability they will open things up on the rush. They can be exposed and will spend their fair share of time defending against great lines, but they are good enough to force to teams we play against to pay attention.

3. Clowe-Brassard-Pyatt//I definitely like the potential of this line. Speed at center ice that can get the puck up ice and size on the wing. Its the type of line you open to be able to come out and really make a diffrence in a 3rd period/OT when people are tired etc. We have very good depth here that many other teams can't match.

4. Powe/Asham-Boyle-Dorsett//I think Boyle is a great 4th line center, and like with out 3rd line, its the type of line that ought to cause teams problems.

Unless it synch's perfectly it can be a bit one-dimensional though. Its like our 4th last season before Johnny Malkin came in. Sometimes you need a bit of a mix. I would actually consider putting JT Miller on this line -- instead of Asham/Powe -- if we need a change.
 
I love the creativity, but I am not quit sure why everyone in this thread want to break up our current top 2 lines.

We got 6 players scoring right now, of which 4-5 during the season has been very streaky.

Richards is scoring now, why risk putting him in the shadow again by taking him away from Nash and Zucc? Zucc is scoring and involved offensively, why risk getting him in a slump again by taking away Nash from him? Why break up Zucc and BR who seems to have created some chemistry?

The entire 1st line is scoring and all three are playing with great intensity which gives us a line with a overdrive gear that you will never get from a line with a "goto sniper" -- who constantly is looking to get into certain positions, instead of just moving his feet -- on it?
 
Its difficult to get around the fact that the top6 has a lot of chemistry atm.. Can't see a good reason to not roll with it.

Zuccarello - Richards - Nash (Love Zucc feeding Nash and think they can create space for each other)
Hags - Step - Cally (Solid line who work well together)
Clowe - Brassard - Dorsett (This line could be a NIGHTMARE to play against)
Pyatt - Boyle - Powe / Asham (Very solid fourth line, too bad for Pyatt there is not room in the top 9 because he has been a factor lately)

MacTruck - Girardi (Ovy and Backstrom HATE playing against these guys, they're gonna log big minutes against especially against Wash)
Staal - DZ (Best second pairing in the league)
Moore - Stralman (I feel like Torts can be confident to play these guys and we expect them to produce some offense)

I don't see any reason why our current top 2 lines should change, they've been doing well recently, why mess with what works?
Clowe can go on 3rd line with Brassard and Dorsett/Krieder(If Dorsett is healthy and up to par, he's probably a 3rd liner), and 4th is the usual collection.
 
Most folks have the right idea; I don't think Dorsett is a 3rd liner on this team, and even though I'm one of Kreider's biggest detractors I'm willing to pencil him in on that 3rd line provided he doesn't become a problem defensively.

I'd go with

Zucc-Richards-Nash
Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider-Brassard-Clowe
Asham-Powe-Dorsett

I didn't think we'd see Boyle, I still don't know if we will.My one issue with our roster as constructed is that We have a lot of forwards who are not great defensively. Washington is a prime offensive team,and we don't want to get caught with only 2 men back frequently. Girardi will get worn down facing Ovechkin rush after rush by himself. For this reason,I'd match the Stepan line with the Ovechkin one. It might negate some of their offensive abilitiesby playing simpler and more conservatively, but its the best defensive line we have.
 
If we don't get Clowe back(He wasn't on the ice during practice according to the injury thread), does Dorsett come up to the third line, or does the third line look something like Krieder-Brassard-Pyatt? Maybe one of the Hartford kids sees some third line minutes?

My lines as well (no need to be more creative :handclap: with the first two lines and Pyatt needs to be involved on the 3rd line), only Powe is not alternating (even theoretically) with anyone on the 4th line - he's a must have for PK against Caps.
 
What are the motivations for prefering Kreider over Pyatt now that we're entering the playoffs ?

Kreider hasn't been stellar the chances he's gotten, and at least Pyatt has produced.. Isn't Kreider going to be a potential liability, whereas we know roughly where we have Pyatt on the third line. Granted his condition will be altered if Tort keep the top6 together

Because Kreider was a useful wild card in the playoffs (especially vs the Caps) last year. We'd be looking for him to step up his game again with something to prove.

This team is so much more talented than last year's team but that's the big difference. That said, we still have one of the Ds in the league and the best goalie. Give me the extra talent on O and worry about the D and Hank stopping the puck.

I don't think Boyle is coming back this year. And I'm not a Pyatt fan at all. We're gonna need Kreider's offensive skill. I have a feeling he's gonna go off again in the playoffs I see him as a player that can step up in the biggest stage.

Boy I hope your right. I am a big Kreider fan, but I was at the regular season finale and he just doesn't look like he has that confidence needed to play at this level right now. Now maybe he turns it around in the playoffs and I sure hope so because he looks like he will be on one of the top 3 lines to start the playoffs. Doesn't seem like Boyle and Clowe will be ready.
