My grades based on the 6 games vs Pitt.

Dubinsky A
Johnson A
Calvert A
Jenner A
Johansen A-

Foligno B+
Savard B+
Murray B
MacKenzie B
Nikitin B-
Tyutin B-
Bobrovsky B-

Anisimov C+
Atkinson C+
Letestu C+
Umberger C
Skille C

Comeau D+
Wisniewski D+

Expected alot more from Comeau and Wisniewski. Wiz especially, he was a such a huge part of the late season push. Letestu couldn't get it going (57% on faceoffs was huge though), Atkinson doesn't physically factor in to these gritty games, and his only goal was a Dubinsky shot that bounced off of him. Anisimov was not the dominant center we needed him to be. RJ, bad luck with a couple injuries, made a terrible turnover in game 3, but was instrumental in the OT gwg in game 4.

Johnson was a beast, playing as well as he did just prior to the Olympic break.

Calvert is about as competitive a guy as you'll find, HUGE pair of goals in game 2, I'll remember that OT winner for the rest of my days, and a nice SH as well.

Jenner is a big boy and he imposed himself physically in this series. Unbelievably heavy game for just a rookie. Total Hitchcock type guy.

Dubinsky, heart and soul of the team. The Capt de facto if not in title. Shutdown the best player in the world while putting up a point per game.

Joey was real good, but not as good as he was down the stretch. No complaints on the 21 year old.

Bob wasn't bad, but thats about all I can say. I'm sure he's dissapointed and I'm a bit myself. He was a beast in game 5, but pretty much blah the rest of the series.

Guys who I thought raised their games in this postseason:
Dubinsky
Johnson
Savard (possibly the most impressive compared to my expectation)
Jenner
Mackenzie

Guys who I thought did not rise to the occasion:
Wisniewski
Atkinson
Nikitin

Players whose contributions were positive but not over and above expectation:
Calvert (a bit unfair, as he had a terrific series, but I don't feel like he raised his game)
Johansen
Foligno
Murray
Umberger (incomplete, and a bit unfair to these others listed, but he gets a bonus for his game 4 effort)

Guys who didn't raise their game and who perhaps didn't play poorly but from whom more was needed:
Anisimov
Letestu
Tyutin
Bobrovsky (was real close to putting him in the Wiz category)

Guys who were guys:
Boll
Schultz
Skille

Guys who just confused the hell out of me:
Comeau

You were a bit kind to Bob and Wiz. Bob had one great game, otherwise he was average. Most of your scoring I'm ok with. I'd go D on RJ, he did his best but outside of a few shifts he was pretty much a non-factor. I'd go C with Foligno, we need more from his game. I'd go B+ with Jenner and Johansen, as outside of the PP there were kind of average 5 on 5.

Wiz was clearly an F. Bob was more like a C or C-.

Good effort, I think you read most of the series like I did. Just some nit-picking on my part.

I don't wanna give everyone a grade, so assume whoever I didn't single out got the ol' Gentleman's C.

Dubi, JMFJ, and Boone gets A's from me.

Joey, Calvert, Savard, Letestu got B's

Bob was my biggest disappointment and he probably doesnt deserve the D+, but he needed to be an A player, and was nowhere close so for that he gets a lower grade from me.

Wiz = F. But I'm not ready to trade him or buy him out yet. He's still a valuable member of this team for at least another year or two.

Right on. You could write a long list of great players that had a bad series in the postseason. If we somehow beat Pit, he could turn around have 5 goals vs the Rangers.

wiz was the worst player in the series. hopefully a possible buyout, dude was terrible and in the last month of the season seems like the only thing he brought to this team is his shot from the blueline. he is a great guy but a defensive liability always gets beat to the puck and couldn't make a good pass out of his own zone if his life depended on it.if any body gets bought out i would think he would be a prime candidate.

:shakehead He had rib cartilage damage in the last half of the series. He had a couple of dumb penalties, got called for one where it was an obvious dive. Does this deserve to be bought out? Absolutely not. Stay calm poeple...stay calm.

I vote keep Wisniewski. Pretty hard to argue against keeping a 51 point defenseman. We all know the risks that come with Wiz, but even after this series I still think he helps this team more than he hurts it when you are talking big picture.

Officiating D+

This was the big one to me. The officiating was terrible going both ways, and the complete inconsistency (particularly at inopportune times) completely changed the way every game in the series was played.

I've seen a lot of hockey, and this series was among the worst from the officials I've seen.

Just going for the extremes here because for me its splitting hairs between Bs and Cs for everyone else. Cutting Wiz some slack since he was injured.

Dubinsky A
Johnson A
Nationwide Crowd A

Comeau F- That last penalty is almost enough for me to trade him. Went from 4+ minutes left to 2+ minutes left. Had the Jackets scored in that 4+ minutes who knows what would have happened with the series. Not saying the Jackets would have scored but that was perhaps the dumbest penalty I have ever seen.

It's really amazing to me that in the best pro hockey league in the world they can't find better officials for such important games. Really quite frightening. I don't recall playoff officiating ever being so shoddy in this league. On the overall, I found the regular season officiating to be palatable, possibly even good. Why that changed when we got to the playoffs will probably never make sense to me.

How the hell does the NHL let Tim (Banana) Peel and that clown Rooney work a playoff game?!? Two of the worst (if not THE worst) officials in the league.
