Post-Game Talk: Playoff discussion Thread Round One: J-E-T-S

I find it strange that people keep comparing the Jets vs Ducks last 1/2 and last 1/3 of the season point totals. I realize the Jets played very well, props to them, but the Ducks didn't really have anything to play for for about a month and have been benching their stars on a rotating basis. Same can be said about "well this team isn't the same team you saw earlier" debate. It applies for the Ducks just as well as it does the Jets. That being said, I think it'll be a tough series that potentially could go either way - especially if one goaltender is hot and the other flat.

I just don't understand all the hostility towards the Ducks on the main board like wtf

its like arguing with kings fans.

ive been tempted a few times to respond. but its moot. jets fans are convinced they are advancing to the second round and that Anaheim, stats and all, will be upset in the first round.

I think as multiple posts have stated, there is a dislike of the Californian teams and their success. It seems constant throughout all sports but especially in hockey as we have warm weather, but we didn't exactly enjoy LA kings winning either, they just group us all together with them tho.

But we are just harmless ducks in a pond trying to make it through with a cup that's all, we don't mean any harm

Funny thing about the Ducks hate. My wife and I both agree that we have noticed more and more Ducks jersey's in opposing teams barns this past year or so.

Also, I live in Montana, and when I wear my Ducks attire out to the store, etc... quite a few people give me a thumbs up or say they like my shirt, Ducks etc. My Doctor even told me his daughter is a hockey player, and the Ducks are her favorite team. They have no ties to Socal, either. Kinda interesting that it seems we are maybe making more of a dent in the national hockey scene. I would guess it's mostly due to our success the last couple/few years at being near the top of the standings.

I've noticed this in Dallas the last few years. It used to just a handful of us every game. Now there are large sections of Ducks fans there every time I go.

Just think, we could possibly go though three Canadian teams if we win it all. The crap from fans and media might only get worse from here! (please let there be a Sens-Ducks SCF redux, we could be hated forever! :D)

Our lines today:

Patrick Maroon-Ryan Getzlaf-Corey Perry
Matt Beleskey-Ryan Kesler-Kyle Palmieri
Andrew Cogliano/Tomas Fleischmann-Rickard Rakell-Jakob Silfverberg
Jiri Sekac/Emerson Etem-Chris Wagner-Tim Jackman

Interesting he's going with Maroon on the top line, I think I like it. Seems like the big guys are the ones that ramp it up for the playoffs. I just hope we find a better solution than Wagner if Nate is out.

(Bum bum bum, ba-dum ba-dum)
A duck walked up to a lemonade stand
And he said to the man, running the stand
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Got any cups?"

Got tickets for the gf and I to game 2 on Saturday.

Neither one of us has been to a playoff game before.

So, just watched the NHL Network Western Conference preview show. After writing off the Ducks all last night, they picked the Ducks to go to the SC Final

Jamie McLennan wasn't on last night and he's been a ducks supporter all year. Picked them to go all the way I believe, or at least the finals I know that.

Kevin Weekes is the one who's all aboard the Jets bandwagon.

I am nervous simply because we all saw how bad the Ducks can play this season. There were some seriously awful games. If playoff Getz shows up again, I think they can take the series early on. If he doesn't, I don't know anymore. Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler can run over any team, especially the Jets. Only question is if they can do it here and now.

Don't give a hoot about what main board posters are saying. I took one peek and bounced. At the end of the day, the players have to play the players, and the Ducks have to start winning when they should.

That could be trouble right there. Weekes has more inside info on our team than anybody including Stephens.

Spot on. Truer words were never spoken.
