Central Division
1. Winnipeg - 120,6 points
2. Dallas - 111,9p
3. Minnesota - 99,7p
4. Colorado - 99,0p
---------------------
5. St. Louis - 81,0p
6. UTAH - 80,5p
7. Nashville - 71,7p
8. Chicago - 60,3p

Pacific Division
1. Edmonton - 108,0 points
2. Vegas - 98,0p
3. Los Angeles - 96,8p
4. Vancouver - 91,3p
---------------------
5. Calgary - 87,0p
6. Anaheim - 86,0p
7. Seattle - 75,8p
8. San Jose - 47,7p

Metropolitan Division
1. Washington 121,1 points
2. Carolina - 103,4p
3. New Jersey - 93,0p
4. Columbus - 92,2p
---------------------
5. NY Rangers - 90,1p
6. NY Islanders - 87,8p
7. Philadelphia - 77,6p
8. Pittsburgh - 76,5p

Atlantic Division
1. Detroit - 100,9 points
2. Florida - 100,8 p
3. Toronto - 98,8p
4. Tampa Bay - 96,8p
------------------
5. Ottawa - 91,7p
6. Montreal - 82,2p
7. Boston - 81,5p
8. Buffalo - 79,7p

Ottawa did lose lose all 3 games on their Florida trip, with zero points. That did hurt them quite a lot.

Think NYR will overlap CBJ pretty easily. Columbus has just too many injuries for hot important players like Marchenko and Monahan.

Atlantic will be a total lottery and Central is already set.

This would really make me smile. Wings #1 in the Division (what would that be - 6th overall if I counted right?) would be insanely cool. Wings ahead of Boston? Chef's kiss.

Well I doubt we will be 1st and likely end up in a WC spot, but we’re definitely ahead of Boston. They’re not making it.

I have no idea about playoffs. The last 21 games have been an epic story, but I don't know if they've got another .700 20 game run in them, or whatever it would take to maintain a WC spot.

But man O man has it been a change of pace to enjoy watching the games! Everyone seems "there" on the ice most of the time, they clearly believe they can do it, and there's no quit in these guys. If they stay decent, I am hoping at the TDL that SY rewards them with a solid acquisition if possible, or at worst standing pat.

I would bet exactly one piece of pepperoni that, if they do get in, they can advance out of the first round, but honestly I don't care about that. I want them to feel the woodchipper that is post-season hockey and fall in love with it. And I want to watch it and listen to Mickey's stories about playoffs back in his day.
The wings are currently 6 wins over 0.500, so to hit 95 points (it should be enough, but not be) for the end of the season they need to get to 13 wins over 0.500, or a total of 7 more wins than loses in the 27 games left.

So that is 34 points in 27 games or a ppg% = 0.685, so a record of 17-10-0 or 15-8-4 or any similar combination.

If my math is correct, a 0.600 clip the rest of the way would land the wings at 93 points (so 32 in the 27 games), that might not do it, this year.

They have a real shot, after where the team was at Christmas Day, that is awesome indeed!

The first and most recent games under Todd are like the ugly bookends of a collection of Elmore Leonard books. Substitute one of your own favorite writers. As in most EL books, this stretch of success was something I did not see coming but great fun to watch.

No one should expect a similar stretch from here on in. There isn't any EC team as bad as the four or five worst in the WC, so games are going to be increasingly physical and intense, more dependent than ever on goaltending and special teams, key guys staying healthy. Getting good enough consistent goaltending might be the Wings' biggest obstacle. There also aren't any IMO EC teams so obviously better than the pack that they should be feared in playoffs. Fans here criticize 5-6 vets on the team regularly, but almost every EC team has a group that isn't much better.

The condensed schedule will come into play for all teams, but I think that it is most likely the Wings, Sens and Rags will be the ones fighting over the 2 WC slots. Of the 9 games in April for Sens, 8 are at home, for the wings, only 3 of their last 9 are at home, so they need to bank as many points as they can in the18 games slated in February and March.

If the BJ's lose both games to the wings (sure hope so) they are probably toast.

The Isles could still make a push too, but I can't see them scoring enough to support their goalie on most nights.

And of course, there is still TDL implications and injuries to factor in, I am just pleased the wings have battled back into the playoff discussion given where they were on Christmas Day.
