Not sure if superstitions is right but we all know the players, from what I`ve read over time, have a tendency to do the same thing over and over again on game days.

How bout the fans here? Have fun, this isn`t meant as a thread to predict lineups or where the boys will finish after the next two games.

I have nothing too crazy, Mrs. Odaat, gawd bless her, knows I`m one who can`t watch playoff hockey with her in the room. It`s not necessarily because I`m too nervous or on the edge, I`m terrible at small talk when the playoffs begin and I prefer as close to silence when the games begin. During the regular season, no problem at all, playoffs..............leave me alone:laugh:

Ultimately, whenever the playoffs are over, I usually owe her a nice dinner out as my attention to our relationship on game day/night`s is less than stellar

So, any traditions with you ladies/gents?

I prefer to watch alone & my wife understands. When the Bruins face elimination games I wear a Bobby Orr t-shirt or jersey ! :)

I have quirks that I fall into. Then I play "jinxs." On Facebook in 2011 I posted a "Congrats to Vancouver..." post. I got so many Likes and "What a good sports." In 2013 I posted an announcement to be read at school, "Congratulations to the Toronto...." In my opinion, it works!!!! :handclap:

Habs fan here in peace, congratz for clinching, and hope your team finished 2nd or 3rd, so both our teams can have a match up in the 2nd round! After all, I am sure Claude is also looking forward for this!

I mute the TV during the last 15 minutes of every tight game.

that is hilarious

During that Cup winning season I didn`t mute the TV but found myself consistently pacing around the living room, too bad the Fit Bit wasn`t around at that time, I`m sure I walked a million miles

I usually put the reverse curse on them (typical long suffering Bruins fan maneuver). I did it last night after the Marchand penalty. Lots of pacing too. After the Horton goal in Game 7 of the Tampa series, I paced the house reciting every prayer that my County Galway Dad and County Cork Mom ever taught me (and there were lots of them!) over and over and over again until the game was over.

Slight aside here. But am I alone in thinking that the Habs fans on this board are becoming much more respectful than the Leafs fans. Don't get me wrong, there are knuckleheads in every fanbase but I think Fenway posted his frustration recently of how difficult it is to manage the Leafs fans when the Bruins play them this year. I think the Habs and Bruins fans (of a certain maturity level) have somewhat developed a begrudging respect for each other through years of rivalry. The Leafs fans....as the saying goes, act like you've been there before, and they just haven't. And it shows from their inflammatory posting.

Difference might be that the Leafs haven't won in 50 years and seemingly will dominate the league for years to come, so they're getting cocky.
Habs hate Leafs as well, of course.

I have lots of them.....but the worst jinx in the world is my Mom. From when I first started cheering for the Bruins in the early 1970s, whenever she walked in the room it seemed the other team would score.

My Dad is a soccer fan and a few years back he said his team got scored on when she was around....I laughed so hard! 40 years later and the curse is alive and well.

When she wishes the Bruins luck if she knows I'm watching a game, they lose. Now I don't tell her when the games are and won't talk to her if she phones during a game....lol

Always put a hex on opposing goalie, never works but got to do it anyway. Not a superstition but don't want anyone to talk to me during the game unless it's about the game itself, that's the only thing that matters.Lol

This place in Stoneham (right off 93) would hang a huge banner for the Bruins when they make the playoffs.

Every time I drove by (daily, north or south) I would scream how many wins left in every series.

I miss it and hope they put it up again!

More just traditions.

I invite 10 friends over for game 1. I scream and throw things and string together profanities that would make most people cringe.

Game 7 rolls around and one buddy begrudgingly comes over to watch if i promise to do none of the above.

it's a magical time of year.

Mine is kinda silly:

After the final siren of the game on Saturday I will post a facebook status that simply says “16 wins to the promised landâ€, then after every win in the playoffs, I post again with the updated number of wins… Started doing this 2010 and we all know how that ended… but decided to do it again in 2011, that ended much better. Been doing this ever playoff year since.

If for some reason I forget post after a win, I have about 5 or 6 people hounding to make the post…

in 2011 when the B's dropped the first 2 at home to the Habs I went downstairs and rubbed the #15 of Uncle Milty on a frame photo of bruin legends I have in my basement. They won game 3 and I couldn't be there for game #4. I made my 10 year old daughter do it.

But I don't really have any other superstitions.

To be fair in March 2007 we went to Toronto to watch the Leafs but lets be honest we are not miracle workers!

My superstition is dont lose

Yeah. I have a superstition that might sound crazy, but nevertheless. "If you lose four games in a playoff round, you're unlikely to advance". Seems to hold true most of the time.
