Playoff Avatars

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. While this year's theme isn't the greatest since there are only a handful of "villians" on the team, the finished product is very well done. Appreciate everyone's efforts.

Spend enough time on the Main Board and everyone on the Kings is a goon and a villain.

Brown and Nolan are the only ones that have spawned 15+ page threads with everyone calling for their head.

Doughty/Quick/Carter/Richards generate some hate but, outside of Blue Jacket fans with Carter, the "hate" is primarily due to them just being very good hockey players. Actually, nobody gives a crap about Richards anymore because he is invisible.

Kopitar is one of the most beloved players in the league. Most everyone seems to love Sutter. Nobody cares about our defense outside of Doughty.

In all honesty, Brown is the one driving the hate train. Nolan has emerged this year as Brown's deputy in pissing off the main board but, after that, you pretty much have nothing except for Jarett Stoll and his "oopsie" hits from behind while logjammin' hot celebrities.

I guess my point is that the "villain" thing doesn't work for like 80% of the team. I do like Muzzinga with the "inside joke" on Regher and anything referencing Clockgate, but it just doesn't work with Kopitar, Toffoli, Martinez etc...

I actually think that whoever said everyone should get a Brown one was on to something. Populating the main board with Dustin Brown avatars would make many an Hf'er cringe simply by opening a thread. Then imagine if he Hertl's someone again!

As I said earlier though, they are very well-done avatars and I appreciate the hard work put into them.

Hi KingsKnight,
Can you please set me up with Quickie as "Game Breaker" and use these images to make him look like a Break Dancer doing all his saves. Please flip the 1 & 3 images to make it looks like he does that on the left side as well.

You need to hang out on the main board more (or don't, because you're better off that way :P)

Kopitar is not that good and would be a 3C on the Flyers. Oh, and he dives.

Doughty is a whining diver and I wouldn't take him over my mediocre team's #1 d-man even if he was UFA.

Toffoli is a bust.

Who is Pearson?

Williams is not a first liner and would have a hard time cracking most teams' top-6.

Carter is a locker room cancer and his goals don't override his attitude.

Voynov is a bust, bottom pairing on my team.

Let's not even get into Quick.

If it doesn't work with our lesser-known players yet, it will.

Trust me, the above are things I've read all year. The Kings generate so much hate it's stupid. Comparing the above to Brown is a fool's errand because Brown generates two-part threads in ways Cooke et. al. can't match. The Villains theme is just us embracing the idea that no one can drive by a thread without going "Typical Kings, Brown Dirty, Nolan Turtle, Doughty Whiner, Kopitar Diver". Even our clock is an ******* and our organization is classless and conspiring. Trevor Lewis could get boarded this year and on his way to breaking his jaw highstick Matt Cooke and the thread would have little to do with the initial boarding and everything to do with how Lewis fell accidentally on purpose stick-first into Cooke. I really do try not to be a martyr, but I really believe the theme is as classy a way as possible to mock the groupthink.
 
The latest should be updated with Reclamation Project and Bandit's additions. I've put Reclamation Project's frames into gif form (and made the second frame black and white). There's still a few to go.

Hey not sure if you saw, but we're doing the Dark Knight quote now, with two images, a hero and a villain image. If you can somehow make that work into your idea, we can make you one. Otherwise, I want to wait until after the playoff avatars are done to do any other regular avatars.

It fits the team better than players. 4 years ago everyone loved the Kings and wanted to see them do well, then they won the cup and now are universally despised

I know the team is generally disliked around the league now, primarily because of the style they play and Brown. I spend plenty of time on the main boards so, yes, I understand that it fits the team better than the players. It's just hard for me to take the leap to "villain" for the majority of the individual players on the team.

If they win the Cup, they will be the second greatest avatar of all time so I'm hoping my opinion will change come June.

Edit- Just looked at the avatar thread on the main board. Pretty weak avatar year. Ours are actually near the top of what I've seen. I take it all back!

Sorry! my bad. In this case, could you please use the two images attached, and use the picture of Quick with a hoodie as villain and the one with USA helmet as hero?
