OT: Playoff Avatars Thread (VOTE FOR YOUR CHOICE)

Not a fan of the meme grumpy cat or LOTR options. What's an example of the system? Anything can happen sounds like the best option out of the 4 to me.
 
Hi everyone,

If/when you have some avatars done and the theme set (apologies if you do already, I just didn't see it), I'd really appreciate it if someone could post a few samples and an explanation of the theme in the playoff avatar showcase thread now on the playoff board:

Really want to give all the playoff teams a chance to show off their creativity and celebrate the hard work of avatar makers across HF.

I think we can call this for 'Anything Can Happen!'. It seems like most people were responsive for combining the top two themes, no?

Grumpy Cat: "Nope."

Yup, sounds like a winner. A good combination of Rangers fans' clinging to sheer hope and still having that sense of cynicism at the same time.

Keep it simple for the avy makers, make it either grumpy cats or Anything Can Happen.
 
"Anything can happen" has obviously won the poll, but if the avy makers are fine with it - couldn't just those who want a hybrid between the two get it? In the end we would all have "Anything can happen" avatars.

If we have another poll between ACH with and without the cat we may not have decided on a theme before we have been eliminated from the playoffs! Let's just go with it.

I would probably sport a self-deprecating one but without the cat, mainly because memes feel a bit unoriginal to me.
 
Let's do it! I don't want this to be like the regular season avys where indecision and bickering caused us to never get around to them.

Personally I like the combo of the cat and anything can happen because it represents the bipolar nature of our board. But I think we need to get a consensus, that should be priority #1 right now. If we don't get one soon, just go with the poll results.

There should honestly be a lot less discussion and over-thinking regarding these.

My favourite HFNYR avatar theme was probably the "Frozen Pizza Playoff Push" of 2010 which just sort of happened. Very off-the-wall and hilarious despite (or maybe because of) its simplicity.

Yeah I agree. Way too much over-thinking. We have a winner, let's make them.

My skills aren't the greatest, but I would do anything I can to help. The important thing is getting the green light on this thing already.
 
I think you all should decide by end of day today, and then spend the next couple of days executing. Gotta be ready to go by Thursday.
 
Well, the poll was won by a landslide and I think we should keep Grumpy Cat out of the ACH theme altogether since HFBOS seems to have named it their unofficial mascot.
 
i like anything can happen.

i would like McD but have no idea how to go from there need to think. ideas would be nice as im not creative at all

Wow what an embarrassment. We are the only team in the east without our AV picked already.

I vote the cat. Let's make it happen. Don't get all Tortorella on this and just shoot the puck already boys.

Yeah, it's getting pretty pathetic. There's been a consensus, not sure what we're waiting for.
 
Well, to move things forward lets throw some ideas for format around.

3 slide design I assume? Slide 1: Far-fetched successful scenario, picture w/ text. Slide two: "Anything Can Happen. Slide 3: Playoffs logo.

Sounds good to me.
 
So, the next step would be ideas for that first slide I guess.

We could do some players winning the Conn Smythe, either someone likely (Hank, Nash) or people totally ridiculous (Pyatt, Eminger) for a comic twist. We could do pictures of players hoisting the cup like the first slide of the example of the ACH/Cat hybrid one. Again, guys like Callahan, Staal, McD for a semi realistic idea, or Bickel or something for a joke. We could do hilariously optimistic stat lines for the playoffs, for example a picture of Hank with "0.00 GAA."

I'm not sure I'm in love with any of these exact examples, just trying to get the ball rolling. I'm sure some people can come up with funnier ideas.
 
I would die for one that says: "Del Zotto shoots and scores!" "Anything can happen!" And then of course grumpy cat with the "NO."
