DeBrincat is an American and is on their roster.

From Canada, theres nothing shocking at all.
 
Canada- Dal Colle, you would think with such a young team, they would take a player in his draft+2 season. I know he has struggled but if you had told me he would be cut at the start of the year, it would have been shocking.

Kylington was not a surprise as Sweden in recent years has rarely ever made selections based purely on talent.

Garland is another one that should have been there but somehow isn't. With how much he has dominated the junior game, you would think he would almost be a obvious choice.

Every year promising underagers get cut, defense is a complex position where upside is one thing and current ability another. The two -97 born Ds on the Swedish team were both drafted higher than him, the others are a year older and more experienced. Still has one year of eligibility left and it would surprise me if he wasn't there next year, CGY permitting.

I think Sweden went with more players that are still playing in Sweden vs. CHL or AHL. Flames 6th round pick Ollas-Mattsson made the team and he's most definitely at least a tier below both Andersson and Kylington.

Kylington is looking great in the AHL as an 18 year old. He's been defensively responsible and showing great offensive ability.
 
Garland is the best CHL player (Current, not NHL potential) and doesn't even get an invite to camp. I will never understand this choice.

Probably not a better junior player than Garland.

Garland PPG - 2.42
Marner PPG - 2.32

Oh yeah and he does that with Cameron Askew and some random other winger, no Christian Dvorak/Tkachuk.

Obviously Marner is a much much better prospect, but that's not what the poster you quoted said.
 
American not inviting Connor Garland shocks me He would easily be on Canada if he was Canadian I would imagine.

Because point per game is clearly the only indicator of how good a player is...
Marner is strong defensively. Garland doesn't do defense.
 
Garland has 22 more points than any player in the league and 34 more than the next highest scorer on his team.

Its safe to say that Garland is the best offensive player in the CHL.

It also shocks me that Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic aren't on USA

Garland's problem is being a defensive suck.
