Players with the shortest and the longest last name in NHL history

Most of the shortest firstname surname combos are actually shortened names or nicknames. Like Ed Kea (Adriaan Kea), Rob Ray (Robert Ray), Tie Domi (Tahir Domi), Max Domi (Maxwell Domi), Aki Berg (Aki-Petteri Berg), Brad May (Bradley May).

Shortest actual combos that I can remember are Rau brothers Kyle and Chad. Not sure if those are the shortest though.
Aki is a legit name in its own right, and in case of a combo first name such as Berg's, it's quite up to the person himself as how to use it. Though in ids etc both parts are used. But it's not a nick nor a shortened name.

Source: I have such a name, and I use only the first part, also in most official documents.

Okay. I did not know that you can decide if you use other part of the name in ID´s (edit. sorry misunderstood you). I have family member who has hyphen in her name. Though Digi ja Väestötietovirasto where you inform or apply a name change mentions in the first sentence that you can have four first names and names with hyphen are counted as one name. But I can´t really argue with you about that if you are doing it. :)

He was definitely Aki Petteri Berg at draft time, though, or at least as reported here.
Yeah his birth name is Aki-Petteri Arvid Berg. Aki-Petteri being first.

I don´t think NHL cares that much what kind of version of his name player decides to use in NHL. I mean currently there is JJ Peterka. So I guess in a way Ed Kea could be the right answer because that was the name he decided to use in NHL. Wonder if they would allow Brazilian type of one word nicknames like Pelé, Bebeto etc. :)
