San Jose Sharks...

Two most likely traded are probably Erik Karlsson and Kevin Labanc. They need picks and prospects.

This seems like an easy swap- Brett Kulak for Duclair. Oilers badly need a winger to upgrade Yamamoto in the top six and there's a $250K difference between Kulak and Duclair.

Don't totally hate it, has Kulak bounced back?
IIRC, Feel he had a decent run in Montreal then stumbled a bit after?
Haven't seen any of him since he went to EDM.

Just sign Soucy or Graves

Ya I agree and have been beating that drum since last offseason.
Throw Gavrikov into the mix because of Bobrovsky but maybe Gavrikov likes it in LA if they go on a deep run.

I had Graves, Soucy and Gavrikov in that order. I prefer Graves offensive and defensive blend the most.
Have always liked Soucy since his time with MIN.

Out of loop...why?
Gavrikov’s agent is Dan Milstein and over the last 15 months several of his clients have ended up as Canucks—Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, Kravtsov, Kudryavtsev, Sasson…

So, people are making the joke that Milstein is essentially the Canucks AGM alongside Patrik Allvin.

There is a fit for Gavrikov to play alongside Hronek. But it would be entirely dependent on the Canucks clearing salary by moving one or two salaries out this off-season among Boeser/Garland/Myers/OEL.

I'd disagree. They have Hughes OEL and then the last spot already has Wolanin/Hirose/Rathbone competing for it. It would just be a luxury to upgrade there. The right hand side has Myers and Bear and then no one else.
Hronek will be back no?

Don't think Montreal has any likely candidates, but they'll probably shop Edmundson, Hoffman and Florida's 1st. They'll probably continue to listen to offers for Anderson, but it doesn't sound like anyone has made an offer they'd consider. If they can move Price's contract cheaply/for free so they don't need to dip into LTIR, but that's not urgent.

Montreal's needs are picks, good prospects and young NHLers with high-end upside.
I think there are folks the habs want to trade (mostly get rid of), and folks the habs are listening to offers on but not necessarily looking to trade. However, given the depth the habs currently have, it may be that they wont be very active if they just want bodies to fill the lineup.

to trade
- armia
- gurianov
- Depending on how they see the C line, Dvorak could be on his way out
- wideman (omg he has another year??)
- One of Allen or Primeau

listening on
- Edmunson
- Gallagher
- LTIR contracts
- Pezzetta
- Teasdale

Just don't qualify Gurianov and he's gone.

Send Wideman down and he's "gone"

You're not dealing Hoffman.

Listening on any of these is a lie. If someone says "we're interested in Gallagher" he's f***ing gone.

Edmundson... give me a 2nd in 23 at this point, done.

Pezzetta is worth a late round pick. Teasdale has no value

Vancouver Canucks
2 most likely candidates: Brock Boeser + Conor Garland - Canucks have a glut of wingers and these 2 have the biggest contracts (not including Kuzmenko whom they re-signed a month ago)

2 possible candidates: Anthony Beauvillier, Tyler Myers - if the Canucks cant move the 1st 2, Beau may be the winger moved as he has 1 year and a slightly lower cap hit. Myers due to the Canucks needing to clear cap and him having extra value at 1M salary.

Needs: 3C + RHD

Yeah. This seems about right. I think the priority is clearly going to be to move out at least one of Boeser/Garland. There are just too many wingers and too much money allocated to that. Whether they can actually find a a taker or not, is the real question. But i think that's going to be the clear intent. If not one of those guys, Beauvillier probably ends up on the docket.

Myers is also an interesting case in that he should theoretically become "moveable" after his bonus is paid, with an extremely low actual cash value owed over this last season of his deal. The problem is, that bonus is paid pretty late in the offseason and it's usually tough to make those sort of "last minute deals". Unless they can effectively work out a deal in advance, that could still be tricky and might have to wait until the deadline. He also stupidly has some potential trade control that could complicate this deal even further.

But yeah. Trying to bring in a quality #3C to play with all these wingers they have, and continuing to figure out the defence situation outside of Hughes (and now Hronek assuming he's healthy) is going to be a major point of emphasis. They've got a lot of clutter involved, and who knows what OEL is actually going to be if he can get healthier next year. But they've really got 2 (possibly 3 if OEL rebounds to what he was last year) Top-4D and they need to double that somehow.

Jets:

Very possible the Jets go into full rebuild mode, making all vet’s available. Literally all vets could be available for trade for futures (picks/prospects) and/or young roster players with potential.

The Jets are going to be one of the most fascinating teams this offseason. They've got some really interesting situations on the horizon. Obviously the PLD thing is a focal point, with his ability to walk himself straight to UFA and choose his own destination if that's what he wants to do. But Scheifele and Hellebuyck being on the last year of their own deals before UFA makes the whole thing even more murky. They've got a lot of other really intriguing assets who are nearing the end of their respective deals that could fetch huge returns if they truly decided to "blow it up". But i think the question of viability in a burn it down "rebuild" has to be addressed when it comes to a tiny market like Winnipeg. They have the roster ability to actually go for it...which is rare. But do they have the market buy-in to financially survive that?

Blackhawks wise I guess the only really interesting cases will be to see what they do with Philipp Kurashev and maybe if a market develops for Seth Jones or Connor Murphy.

Pretty much everyone else should be available not that there would be a ton of interest in what they have.

Another good year maybe Taylor Raddysh becomes a trade deadline guy.

Kurashev would be an interesting name on the market. To me, he absolutely reeks of a player who could absolutely explode if he's moved to the right situation. Like Lehkonen, where he probably gets shipped to a good organization and situation playing with top players in offensive minutes and rises into the stratosphere in production. But probably not the sort of guy who fetches much of a big return.

Murphy obviously has a market. I think if the Hawks want to move him, they'll have plenty of suitors involved. More just a question of exactly how thoroughly they want to tear it down.

I just don't see Seth Jones having much of a market, unless they get really clever and take back a ton of salary like the Yotes did in the OEL deal. There's just so much money remaining on that deal, it's hard to see a way out.

Buffalo -

I expect Victor Olofsson's time in Buffalo has come to an end as he's out of the lineup at clutch time. This is not a surprise as his season has been punctuated by inconsistency and while he figured out how to help at 5-on-5 last year, he's had issues doing so this year outside of the month of January. He has one year left at $4.95M and while he's a quality PP shooting option, he is a specialist at this point. I'm not sure what they get for him - I figure something like Vatrano's 4th, maybe a 3rd, but not much beyond that.

Yeah. It does feel like Olofsson's days with the Sabres are numbered. Not sure where he'll end up, but it feels like they'll want to clear that salary on a player that they really just don't need anymore. He can be a useful contributor somewhere that just needs a human shot cannon...but i'm not sure where that endpoint actually is. There are a few teams that could use what he offers as a limited player, but there's going to be a bit of a reverse bidding war with a guy like Boeser also clearly on the market. Boeser is the more "premium" specialist...but also comes with the bigger, longer-term financial commitment. Hard to say how that will play out.

LA: Iafallo, Arvidsson, Walker, Durzi, Petersen (unlikely)

Need: Cap Space, Young LHD, 3C, Elite goalie prospect

LA seems like they might be pretty active this summer. They've got about a billion bottom/middle-6 forwards and a real over-abundance of RHD. The forwards might be tough to move for any significant value, but there are enough of them on desirable or potential cheap contracts that they should be able to reconfigure that situation.

The RHD though, is an interesting surplus. It's what half the teams in the league are looking for. Hard to imagine they can't find some sort of deal to adjust that...but it's also hard to envision exactly what they'd want in return? Futures? They certainly don't need more forwards in the mix, but swapping RHD for LHD is more complicated than it sounds. And they seem like they're more focused on competing than collective futures assets.

The Penguins will try like hell to get anything for Carter and Granlund.

The Penguins will have to pay to move Granlund. What a colossal f*** up. With that money and term remaining, i still just genuinely do not see why they gave up and asset of value for him.

Carter...maybe they can find a taker. But it's not an easy sell, and he has a NMC that makes it nearly impossible to move him without his say-so.

:wild

No obvious trades, now that Greenway is gone. Some speculative thoughts;

Zuccarello. Would have to be a nice return. Pretty unlikely, though, unless a better, younger wing is coming back, and who is going to do that deal?

Foligno, maybe, if Reaves re-signs, but that’s a real longshot. They like Foligno’s toughness and physicality, and they don’t have a replacement for him.

Addison, possibly, if they feel good about Faber, and get a good offer for him. I don’t think Dean likes him or his game.would be a shame to move a young talented guy like him while keeping guys like Goligoski and Merrill, though. Addison would a be sneaky good get for a team needing a Dman to run a PP.

A #1C is a need, but they aren’t usually available unless there are issues. If Gaudreau doesn’t re-sign, and Rossi doesn’t look the part, then they will be in the market for a bottom six C.

Minnesota also seem like a team to watch this summer. They've got obvious needs, but they also have a catastrophic cap situation due to those buyouts. Addison is almost certainly gone. They seemed to sour on him pretty radically.

I wouldn't expect those other guys to be moved though. Foligno would have a big market and big value if they decided to move him as one of the rare "power forwards" in today's league. But i think for that exact reason, they probably just want to keep him. He also seems important as a leader on that team.

Gogo and Merrill could get moved, but i don't see much value being involved in that, at which point it probably makes sense to just keep them.

I can't see the Wild not at least trying to find a better solution to their "Top Line Center" missing link. Somebody to play with Kaprizov. But i'm not sure where they'd really look, or how they'd maneuver that given their cap situation.

I think Hoffman, Armia and Gallagher could get moved for other bad contracts. But no one is giving up positive value assets straight up for them.

Edmundson is likely moved, for a 2nd or a guy who has stalled but has promise (think Gorges or Danault when they came to Montreal).

I'd add Dvorak and Anderson are useful, positive value players who should be of interest to other teams, though only after the playoffs show what teams need to upgrade on.

Yeah. I think some team probably gets run out of the building in the playoffs and makes that big move for a guy like Anderson to "fix" the problem. Dvorak, less so. He's more of the sort of piece that a team loading up wants to add as their 3C. Not sure if that's a summer move, or a deadline acquisition.

Edmundson to me seems like much more of a "deadline move". Just bolstering the defence with a big physical guy down the stretch, rather than acquiring him as a piece in the offseason.

Montreal would get better value at the deadline, but they have 9D signed for next season already, I think he's more likely to be moved at the draft, maybe even at 50% retained since it's just for 1 season. And the team trading for him can give him a trial run before extending (or maybe try and get more value out of him at the deadline if they're out of it at that point).

Can see the first two, but not Gallagher. His contract is bad. The cost and length. The fact that he gets hurt he's got value by being on LTIR.

Legit question: do any of the Pittsburgh core start leaving?
Either none or all will leave. I think if they are in the same spot next year they should get what they can for them at the deadline. Of all the problems the Pens had this year Sid/Geno/Letang were not one of them. The bottom 6 needs a complete revamp, and they need to address Goaltending.

If they go the blow it up route I'd love to see Crosby go to Colorado.

A lot of those signed D are younger guys though, who could easily be sent to the minors for three quarters of a year until Edmunson is moved at the deadline. The Habs are definitely in a bit of a weird situation with how many depth guys and young guys they've had to press into action this year though. A lot of them have looked like they belong, which makes the bottom-of-roster pretty crowded. But i think Edmundson is a guy they hang onto as "insulation" until the deadline, when his value will be at it's highest.

#1 NEED: A defense-first top-4 defenseman to pair with Power. Ekholm would have been the ideal add, but I think KA is looking for someone a bit younger and maybe with more term. Think Weegar from Calgary if he shakes free.....or someone similar. The name Connor Murphy has been bandied about on the Sabres board
Canucks fan here in peace; not sure how the relationship ended, so I'm curious if there would be any interest in taking on a year of Myers after the bonus for him has been paid out (he's a pending UFA, and with his size he and Power would make one of the most sizable defense pairs in the league).

So run back the same core? Seems like it is never the player's fault it is always management.
If they lose to Tampa, Dubas and Keefe will be gone and Shanahan a possibility.

New management probably would not have the same emotional attachment to what would be unquestionably a failed core should they lose.

As a Flyers fan, I must say that the Flyers current roster has very few players I'd protect, and that includes Carter Hart (it's not that I want to see their only star player traded, but I hate seeing his career being wasted on this franchise that has no clue what they're doing).
I like the fact that the franchise finally sacked Chuckle's the clown, but as long as Holmgren-Clarke-Barber are still making decisions in the front office, this franchise will continue spiralling downward. The Flyers franchise owners (Comcast) should sell the franchise. The only thing Comcast have given the faithful fans of the Flyers in the past decade is a stupid, annoying mascot that they never needed. That mascot was created to take the audience focus away from the putrid team they placed on the ice.
I like the coach, but there again I also like when they hired Peter Laviolette and Alain Vigneault in the recent past. John Tortorella is a very good coach with an established team, but what he is facing this time around is a team with a massive rebuilding beginning. Are they a player or two away from being relevant again? No. They may be a relevant, competitive team again 5 yeas from now, but right now they're bloody awful, and are difficult to watch.

ID be surprised he gets moved at the draft; GMs know about his back problems and will likely want to see him play to see if it is healed, IMO
