We've had the puck the entire game. What do you guys want?
I agree. From what I've watched, I've absolutely loved the majority of the team and their effort tonight. Nearly every forward has looked decent to good. The only player i really haven't liked is Tinordi. An absolute trainwreck. And Goody has been meh, but first game back. But Jones looks solid. Schneider has looked solid. They look good together. Panarin has looked great. Fil has looked good. The speed and size of the forward group tonight just looks much better. But a lot of that has to do with having 2 good D pairs (as opposed to 1). They are able to get the puck up the ice quickly and it's just allowing the forwards to enter the zone with speed and space. Very happy with the effort. Very happy to see Jones look more stout out there. He's definitely NHL ready. A big relief to see because he's so good at moving the puck up the ice. And he's def PP2 QB.
Miller looks explosive, but he needs to be a bit more in control and be smarter with his decisions. He has to find the happy medium between making a big impact moving the puck up the ice and taking chances with being responsible and simple in certain areas of the ice.
Kravtsov has been decent, you can see the potential. I like his hustle and heart. But he's making some not so great plays in important areas of the ice that have led to chances the other way.
Weirdly, I have like Gauthier more this preseason. I think he's looked good the last few games. I'm not talking about driving the net, but having a bit more passing in his game is opening things up. I don't really care if he scores, but if he can use his speed to pressure opposing D and make them back off and use his body effectively he becomes a weapon. But if he plays like a dumb bag of rocks and with tunnel vision than he needs to be moved. Tonight I see a bit more of the guy who plays a better all around game and it gives me hope. But he needs to be far more consistent with his game. At his peak, he could become a Benoit Pouliot type with less scoring.
But, to me, the three standouts are panarin, jones, schneider. And there are plenty of others who've fared well.
Finally, I think Cuylle has looked better tonight as well.
