Big brain Time - Buffalo / Vancouver trade in the works with one of E. Pettersson or Miller on the move. PIT is in as a 3rd team somehow. Wants prospects to take on bad contracts, retain, send out guys like M. Pettersson, Rakell, even Karlsson or Letang.
Buffalo doesnt need pittsburgh involvement for EP. They are not in JTM talks

Buffalo isnt throwing in A prosprcts for cap dumps PIT needs th o unload

Buf might fo rental pas thru retention because they have space this year

I sincerely hope you are not suggesting Rakell, who would be your leading goal and point scorer, would be a "cap dump PIT needs to unload".

He's also a minus 17 with a career high shooting percentage this year, that also went 0.5 ppg last year. If anyone takes that contract it's a win for Pens, can't see a former top 15 pick being moved for a rakell.

Imagine using +/- to try to diminish a guy who's on pace for 40 goals. Maybe he's a -17 because the Penguins are dogshit?

Since coming to the Penguins, Rakell has put up 70 goals and 151 points in 220 games, which is a pace of 26 goals and 56 points per 82 games. Saying that he is "a contract that's a win if anyone takes it" is just mind numbingly dumb.

Yeah maybe they are dog shit cause of the players they have, is he gunna keep shooting almost 20%? He's not worth a top prospect in a vacuum, doesn't fit the mold of a mcleod trade either age wise.

1. Rosen isn't a top prospect. He's a fringe top-100 prospect that was ranked like 6th in the Sabres system. He's on par with someone like Pickering for the Penguins.
2. Even if he doesn't continue to shoot 20%, he is a career 24 goal, 52 point player per 82 games and is a 26 goal, 56 point player per 82 games with the Penguins. Calling him a "contract that the Penguins would win if they got out of" is just comically stupid.

Even if you just subtract goals from Rakell and put his shooting% at his career normal (11.5%), he'd be at 14 goals and 32 points in 49 games. That's basically identical production to what Tuch has this year.

Won't get a top prospect for him probably a 2nd and a contract filler coming back. He's scored 56 or more twice in his career.

Name the last time a guy on pace for 40 goals and 70 points was traded for "a 2nd and contract filler".

Also still waiting for why Rosen is considered a "top prospect". He's a good prospect, not a top one. Rosen is comparable to Koivunen, who the Penguins got as one of 5 pieces in the Guentzel trade last year.

He's playing in his 11th full season and never scored 70 once. Doubt anyone cares about his pace with that in mind. Rosen could be traded for a better fit imo not someone that's 32 before next season and shooting a career high %.

I'm not going to suggest that any player from Pittsburgh would instantly make Buffalo a cup contender but having watched Buffalo be in the gutter year after year and then watch fans in this thread say stuff like "there is nothing Buffalo want or need from Pittsburgh" is such a classic microism for their last decade.

Especially when you look at the likes of Rakell, Rust, Bunting, Pettersson, and even a guy like Karlsson.

"Noooooo! We don't want your 20g scoring wing for our AHL prospect! They have more than a year on their deal! Get outta here!"

Lol, you got it.

A player who is having a major outlier in SH%...he has 2 full years left...what cou ln d go wrong. I'd rather just keep Zucker if I'm looking for a vet for next year.

Basically you have no clue on buffalo...got it.

Buffalo has a bunch of young players on the club who are developing.

This year they have had about 12 lostt points games where they blew a third perion lead and came away with under 2 pts. Another 6 games where they were tied in the 3rd games and not come away with a pt, and 10+ others they had 1 goal deficit

Their PP has been poor this year. Small margins and they are in a WC spot

We don't need one vet, we need several and there is no guarantee that Zucker won't be traded at TDL, Enough of this youth movement nonsense, get legit NHL players, not unstable kids. Literally 4-5 players in our top 9 are kids or young players, almost all of our defense is under 24, it's just...nobody does that.

What are you on about? No team would benefit more from swapping prospects for 30 year olds than Buffalo would. How's the complete lack of any veteran players been working out for Buffalo the last 15 years?
Trading young assets when you aren’t even a playoff team just to make it in as a wild card exit in the first round is a waste. Buffalo’s not in a position to contend this year.

Also, Buffalo has had plenty of veteran players. What they’ve lacked is a good team.

We're not trading younger assets to make the playoffs this year, let alone be a contender. This would be an attempt to insulate our younger roster players and fix some of our roster construction problems.

We have a lot of young talent in Rochester, too many for all them to find positions in Buffalo. Better to find quality vets (something we definitely have lacked) and at the same time relieve some of the congestion that could hinder development in Rochester.
