I grew up loving the Habs/Nordiques playoff matches. I honestly enjoyed them more than the Leafs (who rarely made the playoffs in the 80s). Those series were insane from the crowd to the battles on the ice.

I don’t think the refs specifically want to give him a powerplay no.

Their willingness to review is above and beyond the normal standard of care on a missed call shows they were willing to find it. That they found nothing means they really found nothing. The puck hit him and the stick was inches away from his face. That's not a high stick.
