Pens playing well, playing for their playoff lives and were waxed 7-0 last time they were here. Dubas, Spezza and Bunts in the building. Leafs could get embarrassed if they mail it in.
It definitely has that potential

Yeah, funny how Nylander is being held to the standards of a contract he isn't on.

He does have to get his legs moving though.
I think they could have a nice 3rd. line there.

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Domi ($20mm)
McMann-Tavares-marner ($22mm)
Knies-Holmberg-Nylander ($9mm)
I'm sure most put the players value on the contract he's signed whether it's started or not, as they should.

Pasta put up 18 goals and 14 assists in 22 games (119 point pace) after signing his deal last year and finished the season with 117 points and has 107 points with 4 games to play.

Willie is on an 88 point pace since signing. But hey he got more money and full NMC, has great hair and is awesome with him Mom and sister in his TTC commercial. LOL.

Good for Pasta..?

That's why the optics of reaching 100 points is pretty huge IMO. Normally a few points here or there at the end of the season are meaningless but he's also fighting to stay in the top 10 in scoring when he was 6th to 8th most of the season.

That would be nice.
But future contracts are not what you hold a player to.

Tavares signs a team friendly $3mm extension this summer, he only has to perform to the level of a $3mm player next year while earning $11mm?

Leafs have a back to back today/tomorrow and to end the season. Leafs can then play Sammy and Woll in the other 2 games. A nice way to balance out the starts and not overplay anyone.

That's one perspective.

I'm not sure it makes any sense in reality, in fantasy yes.

Ultimately, you hope they earn what you're paying them.
That's what his value has been pegged at in reality.

Normally the regular season doesn't raise too many eyebrows for me, but I will be quite annoyed if they lose this game.

I expect them to do so.

It's a very Leafs fan thing to say stuff like this before games against bad teams. No one seems to say it before games against good teams.

I like the Penguins. They have been my second favorite team for 30 years, but I’m not ever cheering for them ahead of the leafs even if this game is a fair deal more meaningful to them than it is us. They have like 4 other games they can win to hopefully get WC2.

As much as I dislike how things ended here with Dubas and had some of my own issues with him prior to that as well, desire to see him personally fail, doesn’t supersede me wanting Crosby in the playoffs.

Here’s hoping for 2 points, a Matthews hat trick and solid contributions from all over the lineup.

I thought that the playoffs is all that matters.

Bruins had an all time choke. One for the history books. Went from the best season in NHL history to choking a 3-1 lead and lost in Game 7 at home to an 8th seed.
