Always fun to beat the Caps, but knowing this buys Sullivan another 6 months of grace period and further jeopardizes this team's shot at an absolute stud like Martone or Misa sucks shit.

Sure. Smart GM and smart coaching. Doesn’t really reflect on him at all though. He loses them more games then he helps them win and it’s been that way for a long long time.

I like how obvious it was they needed to split Geno and Sid up and it goes back to getting Pens depth scoring all of a sudden. No shock to anyone but dipshit Sullivan and the moron Pens reporters that whine this team has a shit roster when it's always been clear, it's been used like shit.

Wild - MAF, Gus, Walls
Avs - Georgiev, Annunen, Kahkonen
Ducks (for now) - Dostal, Gibson, Reimer
VGK - Hill, Schmid, Samsonov
Flyers - Fedotov, Ersson, Kolsov - one might be hurt tho, but dtd.
Hawks - Mrazek, Soderblom, Brossoit
Etc.
So it's not that uncommon this season and I think a lot are also worried waiving their goalies right now since some teams can also carry a third and might snag one to fix their goalie issues. I can see the Habs being one definitely and definitely Avs as they can just waive Kaapo again since he stinks.

Blomqvist won them this game. Let's not even act like it wasn't. Caps had way more scoring chances than the Pens and the difference was Joel doing his elite shit.
But in the case for Ovechkin, he's 39, has 16pts in 14 games and he's actually been far less of a liability than Crosby has been this year. When Ovy is on the ice, 20GF, 8GA, Sid 22GF 18GA and has a better corsi etc. So it's, I mean I get it we don't like the cap, but it's more to do with Carbery understanding how to use Ovy to the best of his abilities in his scheme. And you don't want to look at how many high danger chances are give up when Sid is on the ice, it's the worst of his career - no coach has turned Sid into this shitty of a player in his career other than Sullivan, twice lol...
Sullivan refuses to do that for Sid, Geno, Tanger, Rust, etc.
I mean if your player is older and has trouble doing the things he was great at but the other stuff is good, you play to those strengths and sort the rest with pairing the players that fill those other gaps and manage minutes for older players.

Sullivan makes it seem like it's impossible yet we see it for Ovy, Pavelski, Segs, Benn, etc. Our coach is a f***ing twat. Even if we hate the other team, we can admit when they do shit better right now.
When it's the Pens vs Flyers, Sullivan will look less like shit mostly thanks to Torts, his mentor, doing an even worse job.

I think they'll be floating around 6-8th seed mostly because Lindgren sucks and they can't play Thompson in every game. But they have the cap space to add if they wanted to if they get better and stay in the thick of things near the deadline.
Doesn't matter anyway, why do we give a shit what they are? The only part I care about is how they didn't latch on to a coach for longer than they should have and are doing a better job of what the Pens were trying to do if Sullivan didn't keep royally f***ing it up. They are proof the Pens hanging on to Sullivan is moronic and that having old players surrounded by youth can work when there's a coach that understands how to manage minutes and his line up.

Thing is with how Blom is playing, he doesn't need to work on anything so at that point they're sending down an nhl ready player that has played like a number one caliber goalie because they refuse to move the one goalie that has a cap hit that is easier to move that is also struggling like the former starter has been.
Dubas is usually good at being impatient with that sort of thing with his time in Toronto but suddenly he's become super patient.
