Hutson, Stiga, Gridin i think are among my favs among the somewhat realistic targets. I'd be happy with most unless its stay at home D or some giant they pick due to size.

We don't need better scouts, per say. We need to hire a hacker to hack into Dallas' scouts' computers and steal their list.
Didn't a Cardinals scout get arrested for taking the Astros info with him when he was hired by St. Louis, or was it vice versa, or am I completely full of crap?

Is Taylor Haase plugged in with the organization? I saw a segment on YouTube earlier and she made it sound like Cole Hutson was not really a guy we would be looking at. Disappointing, if true.

She mentioned EJ Emery, Jesse Pulkkinen, Tanner Howe and one more guy I missed the name. She made it sound like we are going heavily for defensemen, which I think we already knew. I think right defensemen, whether they shoot right or not, is our biggest organizational weakness.

Pretty sure Hutson can play on the right side. Oh well.

She gets moments with Dubas and previously Hextall. Not sure if that means she’s in tune with them.

Stiga, Freij,Gridin, Mustard. 4 that I would prefer based off recent comments. Would love to get Surin but doubt he is there at 44..

EJ Emery is from Compton and Pulkkinen has the perviest stache ever grown. I'm sold on both, make it happen Kyle.

Unless there's a huge disparity in talent and ability you take the best forward available and preferably at center.

Question for the board;

I'm busy with work travel so don't get to sit around as much as before and keep a finger on everything leading to the draft, but were there any reports or anecdotes about the Pens doing any interviews or taking any prospects out for dinner, etc... that are projected as top-20 or so pics?

Usually if teams are looking to move up in the draft they swing above their weight class when it comes to taking extra time to meet with draft eligible players that they theoretically should have no business even considering.

Only place I've seen it mentioned is by Haase on DKPS in her prospect series. About 70-80 % of those said tgey talked to tue pens. Those are all ranked around 35-50 tho

Yeah, I think she said that the player who interested the Penguins who probably moved into the first round (and out of reach) was Stian Solberg of Norway. All the other guys are likely within range.

Wow, that's definitely breaking the mold of a Pittsburgh pick for the last 20 years.

Edit: Here's why;

Good work Jesse. I don’t love the Mustard/Guentzel comp. I think they are very opposite styles. Mustard is an athletic puck carrier with a decent frame and some IQ questions. Guentzel is smaller, cerebral off puck scorer and worse skater. I actually liked Mustard a lot less after digging into him, but big picture he’d still be a fine pick in 40s. My play style comp would be a lefty Kapanen (Toronto version)

I would be happy with any of those guys though. Or any of the guys Taylor listed.

This draft is weird. I don’t really think the guys in our range are much if any worse prospects than the guys that’ll go in the late teens/early 20s and on. Hard for me to have a huge preference for anyone at our spot.

(Hopefully we can add a 3rd round pick and draft the 21 year old KHL goalie though)

I've been doing it to myself for 15 years. I say 15 and not 17 because 2 of the 17 times they actually picked someone on the list.

When a team doesn't have first rounders, this becomes an exercise for fun.
Who were the 2 picks? Did they ever amount to anything?
