And again, winning is secondary to providing opportunity and developmental time to the organization's top prospects.

Its fine but this is where we disagree. Bad opportunity is not good opportunity.

Winning creates a good cultural. Look at the leafs. They ooze losing culture.

Hershey won the Calder cup last year and now 4 or 5 players from that team are playing for washington in the playoffs.

Also its not like Pickering just had some awesome playoffs.

This round is a best of three.

Even more reason not to play a guy with zero familiarity to what is going on with the team.

The more they win the deeper they get and the more likely Pickering is to get in the lineup. But it’d be nice for Poulin and Puustinen to go on a deep run. AHL POs aren’t really comparable to the NHL POs in intensity but at least the schedule is similarly grueling.

As it is they’re actually going to have to sit a D that probably shouldn’t. Shea, Smith, St. Ivany, Rathbone, Ouellet, Samorukov, Fedun. Luckily most of the lefties can play the right side.

The Capitals players were actually given an opportunity to play in Hershey.

It seems really contradictory to me to rip the Penguins for not giving young players an opportunity at the NHL level but to then advocate for sitting one in favor of 35-year-old Taylor Fedun in Wilkes.

Big difference between bringing in a 20 year old with little to no pro experience to play the most important games of the year without practice than benching a guy or playing them 5min in games that dont matter when they have been with the team all year.

Apples to Oranges. Not sure how you can say these are the same.

What happens if he plays is awful and leads to multiple goals against. Tell me how that's good for confidence or the rest of the team. It hurts nothing for him to sit a game. Make it to round 2 then play him after he practices with them.

The most important player to go on a run is Blomqvist. At this point you have to hope he is the goalies of the near future. Which is why having a stable reliable defense for him is so important.

Jarry blows in big games. You need a goalie who shows up when it matters for the future. This is Blomqvist chance to show that he rises to the challenge.

Forgot about Blom. Yeah he needs experience in playoff games.

Did the Phantoms get any reinforcements from Philly?

Ya four players who will all help a lot plus they got Rizzo Broz's teammate. Be interesting to see if both him and Broz play. Rizzo is a year older and had a better season

What happens is it'll be a critical learning experience for him, Blomqvist, Poulin, and everyone else who matters. If they fail, it'll be a hard lesson on what they need to do to succeed.

There is nothing wrong with young people failing as part of the learning process.

I mean if he plays that’s fine, I just think it’s the wrong move.

Failing is fine. But not setting up players for success and failing is different. He’s not the only player developing.

Is that Czech kid Tichacek a UFA or does he need to go through the draft? Guessing since he’s not signed he must be drafted. He’s 21 but so was Simon when we drafted him out of the Czech league.

If so we should try to get him and Jelsma in the mid rounds. 2 prospects that are a little older and pro-ready is exactly what we need.

IIRC, he’s a ufa. His draft years should have been 2021 or 2022? He’s a no-brainer boom bust signing.

Hope to see if Ponomarev can make a game. High ankle sprain and not sure where he is in recovery.

Broz can be up here at some point next year. Pickering needs at least 1 full year and maybe 2 in AHL. If Pens get lottery puck luck and finish in top 10, I really like a couple RD and also the center Helenius for Finland as RH center. Not flashy nut pretty good at everything. Skating is not great but he is fluid and can get bigger and stronger and better there. He has decent size at 5-11 and 185 which is fine at that age.

I feel Broz will be in the AHL for two seasons.
