nah, a top draft pick and would cement your goaltending for the long term. Plus, it's inevitable that Freddie would get hurt (and he did).....
There's a reason that all the contenders were not trying to be part of that trade. He's is still an un-proven commodity and as a contender you don't spend resources on a prayer

Different “its”.

Necas is a highlight reel guy who does things very few guys in the league can do.

Every guy on the team is physically capable of scoring both the goals Jarvis scored tonight. Jarvis just does clinical finishing with a level of consistency that we don’t have anywhere else on the roster.

In theory, yes.

In practice, and after decades of watching forwards miss the net or shoot into the goalie in similar situations, I think it's time we acknowledge that Jarvis's ability to finish what we consider "good" scoring chances seems to be higher than not just Carolina players, but most players in the league.

I don't think it's just "Jarvis finishing consistently where other Canes don't." I do think Jarvis finishes close-in at a level very few guys in the league can.

That said, I agree with Borsig that Necas has a similar level of finish ability when he can get to his shot. When he's off his game, he can't get to the front of the net with the puck without losing possession.

Can we call up someone who can actually produce some sort of offence? No offense to Jaaska but maybe give Suzuki, Gunler or someone else a shot
I think the idea is to see if jaaska can be a long term piece. He's on a 1 year deal and then is ufa. Gotta see if he's worth re-signing now. Gunler is locked up for years no matter what.

Yeah I’m 100% aligned - it's an elite skill. But I think it's a both/and with respect to the rest of the team not having much of it, and it makes the difference between Jarvis and the rest of the team that much more stark.

Blake? He's cooled off significantly from his hot start and only has 1G-1A since Nov 30 (our 2 recent games against NJD)
Blake still looks really good and dangerous out there, drawing penalties, creating scoring chances despite lesser linemates. I think he stays up all year. If anything I'd give him more top 6 minutes with better linemates so his skills aren't wasted.

I feel like Blake has been one of the best at puck retrievals as well. If he loses it, he's right back in the corners digging it out. Is there a stat for that? Put him in the top 6 for a little.
