Fiala is a better player (normally) than Rakell but trading Rakell for a slightly younger but better winger doesn't really seem to have a purpose to me. If Fiala was like 25, I think I'd have a different opinion, but Fiala is turning 29 this off-season.

If they're trading Rakell, I think it should only be for a futures focused package.

Fiala is 3 years younger and the slightly better producer career wise. But that extra $2.88 million/year for the next 3 years makes it a resounding no.

Taking advantage of Rakell’s hot season to get an asset who with Rakell’s usage is probably hitting 80-90 pts.

Meh Fiala gets the same icetime as Rakell. He has the same PP points as Rakell. Rakell is on pace for like 70-75 pts. I don't see Fiala getting the same bump with the pens as you expect.

And I think Fiala will get tougher to move over time. Just move Rakell for picks and prospects if you are looking to move him.

dont listen so some idiot king fans. fiala is not a dump

I don't think anyone thinks he is a cap dump. And he is better historically with Rakell. Just seems like a lateral move for a penguins team on the decline. Why take on a similar player with the a higher cap who really won't move the needle much for them.
