I mean, I agree with the initial sentiment, but who cares about Murray’s words - if he was less realistic, he would have just been a worse at evaluating, but equally mediocre (at best) at tending the net. Arguably the worst glove to have ever won a cup.

Yeah, but the question was not what Murray was once was during a short time span it was what he was when Dubas picked him, which is a point many seem to be missing

The common factor in both cases is that Dubas is handing out contracts based on "hoping" that something will materialize from someone performing badly for a good while! And yes there is a difference between Murray and Jarry past, but ultimately it comes down to long lasting form and not a flash in the pan!

I agree that Murray is a good cookie, he was very honest about his success and shortly there after struggles, I recall reading pretty long and in depth articles about that and he seemed like a stand up guy! And it was a shame what happened with his body that could not sustain him playing hockey in the NHL, that must have been really painful! So I am not having a go at Murray, just Dubas judgement!

A goalie could have a 60 save shutout and he would probably still give credit to the team in front of him.

Murray was incredible in the 2016 and 2017 cup runs. The magic ran out pretty quickly afterward, but no one can ever take those performances away from him. His contributions to the organization are orders of magnitude greater than Tristan Jarry's.

I never really understood why desmith was only getting 1.25m in Pittsburgh and jarry was getting so much more. Desmith had some stellar seasons in Pittsburgh. Got the short end of the stick on his career earnings.

From what I understand DeSmith had some attitude issues which hindered his ability to get paid.
