Anyone who's ever been on a team with a bad goalie knows how this feels. I had one beer league goalie get all pissy with me once because someone on the other team was behind the net, flipped the puck off his back and went in. The goalie was hilariously out of position.

Not only frustrating but I think subconsciously makes the team sit back on their heels more when they just can't trust the goalie. Teams play different when they have faith in their tendy

How could anyone trust a GM that puts his faith in Matt Murray and Jarry as goaltenders?

Dubas is definitely looking to make the playoffs this season and that's why he's acting now.

FSG directive is to make the playoffs as they have promised that to Crosby, Malkin and Letang.

Well nothing is black and white - in '20 Montreal was dumping and chasing and when we had the puck we were the better team. Jarry is a master of playing the puck compared to Murray. Jarry would have given us more possession time and with more possession time the pens take that series.

In 2022 Louie gave up several goals (including the series winning goal) that Jarry would have stopped. Healthy Jarry and the Pens take that series against the Ranger (they were the better team).
Jarry is a master of playing the puck? Maybe's he's all tools no toolbox in that department but he was poor at moving the puck in game situations. Seems like when he moved the puck out would always hit the opposition. And that's not even getting into game 5 vs NYI

I would think a new ownership group unknowledgeable at hockey flying in to hire a bad GM who failed with a much younger core (team) is more at fault in these matters. The team was already bad, made worse. On top of that, they have lost footing on a top 5 draft pick. You see, going out and just poorly trading and constructing a team do have consequences when there's clearly no direction in which you are going.

I'll wait for all of their submissions to stand down and fire themselves.

It looks like maybe JR was onto something jumping ship.

Yes, it was stupid of Dubas to sign a goalie to a long-term contract, but they idea that he's the only GM in the NHL dumb enough to do this is laughable. 90% of the GMs in the league buy into the nonsense that you need to lock up a goalie or else you're screwed.

Off the top of my head, a number of bad goalies have been traded recently:

NJ traded Blackwood

New Jersey got a 6th round pick for a Blackwood that was four days from free agency and who they were not planning to tender a QO (and whose acquiring team also didn’t tender him a QO!)

It’s not at all like any of the other players you mentioned, them having genuinely negative value because of contract commitment. Nj was four days away from a free and clean break, and they got a nearly valueless pick because Blackwood was as close to valueless (not positive value or negative value, about to be literally off the books) as imaginable.
