Can a Pens fan chime in and shed light as to why? Is this one/two-way contract?

He provides speed and chaos but boy is he hard to watch with the puck on his stick…

I remember watching him in Finland quite a lot; impressive how he has carved out quite a long career despite limited hockey IQ. Happy he has been able to get back after involved hip surgeries last year

Kind of amazed a guy on a mid season PTO got a 2nd year

He got 2 years, because if he turns out well, why not have him for another year?

It's also cheap enough we can bury it in the AHL with no cap penalty.

Mostly because he’s been good in WB/S and the Pens haven’t gotten much depth scoring, and there’s been a revolving door of 12th and 13th forwards all season.

White, Carter, Harkins, Hinostroza, Zohorna won’t / shouldn’t be back.

smart move by the Penguins if he exceeds well in Pittsburgh they get him an extra year on the cheap , maybe Crosby will bring out the best in him

Zero risk, that salary is able to be fully buried in the AHL. Happy to see if he can be a middle/bottom 6 option. At minimum it puts White back where he belongs, which is not on the ice.

Plus if it doesn't work out there is a chance he'd head back to Europe for the second year.
