Did not look good in preseason. Hopefully slides to 13F after 2-3 games when Crosby returns. Not too mad about it bc our other options at 4C are equally bad and I’m sure he’ll be good for the room, but just needs to be used sparingly.

Also I wonder if Crosby is ready to go right away as well.

It's not alot of money so if it doesn't work out no big deal but as a stopgap I'm not surprised.
Crosby is NOT ready and won't play the opener. Latest is he is still a week away

Boyle is 6''7 but fights like he's 5''9. For all you people posting about ''truculence'', I'm pretty sure Zuccarello would beat up Boyle in a fight

Don't mind the signing but I do have to agree about hextall being lazy. This team is noticeably older slower softer and shallower than years previous
Pens fans continue to give him a free pass. He’s been underwhelming to say the least.

Although he's certainly an easy player to root for, Boyle kinda stinks at this point. I'm not terribly surprised at the signing, though...he's a "character guy" and the Pens are short two centers. It is what it is.

I can't tell you how much I hated this player until his final year (NYR). Then I didn't want him to go. He's one of those nice guys you just cheer for now. Glad to see him getting a shot.

Agreed. Both of them. They are now comfortably the softest team in the NHL.
We had to hear jackass Burke and Hextall say that we needed to get tougher all summer. What did we do? We actually got softer! Never mind the fact that we donated McCann for nothing and failed to find a respectable goalie.

Hextall is atrocious and shouldn’t be a GM.

Happy for him. Good start tonight with the goal and passable defensive play. If they use him as a defensive specialist to win faceoffs, kill penalties and take some d zone starts with the 4th line, spelling him throughout the season, then he could contribute. Pens have depth for days at W in the system but we are light on Cs, especially Cs for that role.
