I was talking about Malkin lol but I agree.
Yeah sorry I realized that I just went off on a tangent.

I'm not sure why Malkin's goalscoring has fallen off like it has. Ovechkin can still sock one timers. Malkin used to be able to. Even as an old man you'd figure he could just stand there in the circle and blast them in.

But it's been like a decade since he was consistently doing that lol.

Your shot tends to go as you get older and I mean... people can roll their eyes but it's also a matter of opportunity and linemates. He hasn't been granted the greatest of either especially the last two-ish years. Right in time for him to need help, natch.

As for OV... I mean... uh... he must just heal, recover and maintain UNNATURALLY well if you catch my drift.

EDIT: Worth noting that when Malkin started the season with one linemate that could navigate the OZ without a map and detailed instructions he was on fire. But we can't continue to have that, so...

I know Tomasino is Italian, but there's no need to name call.

His shot is cooked and we both know it. I love the guy but that's kinda that.

He can't even put 'em in wide open nets anymore.

EDIT: Dude can clearly still do stuff out there. His vision, ability to dish and play through traffic is still there. He could wrap up his career by being a bit of a Joe Thorntonov. But that would require at least one linemate that works with what he still does... like a natural goal scorer. But that ain't happenin' so just try to enjoy the occasional one that floats in off his Cooperalls IDK.
Goal scoring's usually the first thing to go - even Gretz didn't score more than 25 after age 33.

But like I said, even with all the help Sid's gotten, and being a year younger, he's still got less than a handful more goals. Malkin's linemates are probably worse than any former superstar in his late 30s has ever had to contend with. It's too much to overcome.

I won't roast Geno over it. He deserved better in his twilight years.

That... I agree with, yes.

They ALL deserved better than this giant pants-shitting of coaching and management.

Looking at the lineup, looks like Dubas and Sullivan are at odds again. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sullivan gone in the offseason, because he doesn't seem interested in developing players. He probably doesn't want to stick around with a team that's going to be at the bottom of the standings for the next 10 years either.

While Dubas has made some bad moves, his intent was to raise the value of players that were signed to short term deals and sell them. Sullivan instead has tanked their value.

On that weird alternate broadcast Dubas was talking very positively about Pulju and how Sullivan was using him properly. Then he got sent down a coule days later.

Dubas in particular seemed a little surprised he went unclaimed. And the way the whole thing was handled made it seem like that was the expectation.

Boy one of these days the great Mike Sullivan will finally get that elusive GM he is on the same page with. Better go though at least another three to make sure.

I'm searching twitter and I can't find a lineup? Albeit I'm not good with social media. Where has it been posted?

Here ya go.

1 - Sid's Line <3 <3 <3
2 - Rotating cast of garbage and the Russian
3 - I have no idea what goes on here
4 - Acciari and Nieto's Line <3 <3 <3

D: Uh... defense... and stuff. Now that Letang has fallen off and it's clear that Norris EK will not ever be a thing here we don't like to talk about this :(

G: Right Said Ned

Close enough.

So, Nieto is scratched again, while Letang is an unexpected absence.

Letang apparently was on the ice for warm-ups.

Whoa... don't care about Nieto but I just noticed the other thing. Weird. What with all of Letang's health issues over the years I hope everything is OK.

EDIT: Nevermind just saw your update
