OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

Davis busting completely as a 1.1 is a huge miss for a team as cheap as the Pirates. You simply cannot f*** up a 1.1 in our situation and it looks like Davis is, at best, a backup C at the MLB level.

I'm less aggressive when it comes to bitching about Cherington not signing better players, simply because the money isn't there to spend (and most FA's aren't going to pick Pittsburgh over another city, unless we can overpay, which we can't), but missing on premium draft picks, especially 1st overall, is a major red flag.

Gonzo staying healthy and hitting well would certainly ease the pain a bit. Obviously Skenes was a grand slam of a pick. Griffin is off to as good a start as we could have hoped for.

Chandler has been scuffling the past month, a very ugly stretch that has to put a damper on his arrival. Hopefully it's just a bad stretch and not a sign of something worse, especially considering Skenes is surely gone in a few years.

so apparently(after I turned the game off) Cruz didn’t run out what turned into a double play. And got yanked. So the question is, does he just not care or is he trying to get dealt?

Neither is the most likely answer actually there likely not better than #3rdor #4th most likely answer

Probably both. But I think most of it, is that he just doesn't care. He is not a player you build a winning team around and I would have no problem with trading him.

Let someone else promote how hard he hits the ball when he actually makes contact.

It probably just suck knowing you are not playing any meaningful games and it’s not even July

The Pirates ARE a joke franchise, but you don't play your way to another club by nonchalantly playing balls defensively, and jogging to first when you have the speed to make plays challenging to a defense, and let's remember he's 26, so his upside is dwindling fast, it'll be interesting to see if he gets the message, or is he another example of million dollar talent with a ten cent head.

He also missed time with injuries and is on pace for a 30 homer 40 stolen base season

Cruz is just a tale of two extremes

The effort has been REALLY bad on a few plays

Like... Really bad... You're gonna be benched anywhere else at any level, bad

But I'm sure he just leaves in FA and will get us nothing in return when that time comes
