Skenes isn't arb eligible until 2027 or a free agent until 2030. I don't think a MVP/Cy Young finalist with 5 years of control remaining has been traded. I think the earliest will be 2027 when his arbitration will likely make records at least for pitchers.

I actually blame the Jones situation more on Jones, it was obvious he was going to need TJS but he refused and tried to push it off. It pretty much never works to try to rehab a messed up UCL over just getting TJS. Either way, just another shitshow to add to this Pirates season. I may legitimately fully tune them out at this point, this year has gotten hideous and I'm not seeing much reason for optimism.

I wonder how soon we're going to start seeing Skenes trade rumors. He's obviously not going to sign here as long as this team isn't good so you know teams are going to be picking around him.

Cherington does not get to make the Skenes trade. If they fired him and started with a new GM, that guy would be allowed.

But with the pending lockout next year we only have Skenes through 2027 deadline at most. How depressing.

BC should never work in baseball again. BN should go to Mangione's.

Oh i don't blame the pirates either, it's Jones. They should have overridden him. Small frame fast pitch, it was always a matter of when.

I don't know what you do with or as skenes. Obviously this team is trash. He doesn't seem one to give up and put in garbage years until he can leave. But keeping motivated has to be crazy hard.

We would need to get basically half an entire roster back in a trade because we need all of that to improve at all. Like. I'm talking 5+ A level players, and 3 more prospects with insane pedigree.

No FA, no one over 33, all with years f remaining.

Barring that, you keep him and just waste him, i guess.
