OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

Am I being too cynical or are we at the point of ineptitude that we're legitimately damaging the development of our 3rd best prospect (Harrington) because of bullpen mismanagement after only 5 games?

Hindsight is 20/20 but I don't think he was ready.

Did anybody else hear the commentators acting as if people didn't realize the Archer deal was an atrocity at the time?

If Meadows hadn't fallen off a cliff and Glasnow was less injury prone it could have been even worse.

I hope it does get ugly this weekend. Sucks for the players, but ownership and management deserve it. I'm not sure what else could have been expected.

I realize normal people probably just avoid games or give up on them often. I do skip when I am busy with other stuff, but I consider myself pretty die hard and will sit through most anything when I watch. I haven't been able to even finish a game since the one that we lost in 12 innings. There's no point.

I do think Harrington was probably a combo of nerves and "that's just how it goes for rookies." He might not be ready yet, but he sorta had to deal with the trifecta of us already in freefall/the Rays bats being pretty hot, a minor league stadium, and an ump who didn't do him any favors with borderline pitches.

He does seem to have limited upside to me, but he's also the kind of guy who can be very helpful for a rotation once he gets everything ironed out. It was a crappy debut that's kind of overshadowed by just how atrocious this team is.

Normally you would fire Shelton this month. But this is really about the GM more than anything. Not sure there's a chance Cherrington gets fired in-season?

Taking bets on how bad the blowouts are this weekend though.

honestly this is a roster i have basically zero attachment to? the majority of these guys dont even feel like anything but bargain basement mercenaries. if the fans let them have it, so be it

I imagine that Cutch will still get a good hand, as he should. Reynolds deserves respect for staying professional and as the only legitimate hitter on this dumpster fire. Otherwise I don't care.

It's only a few games in and he already has the body language of "I don't want to be here". Super easy guy to dislike.

This team can definitely turn it around because it's so early, but it's just shocking how low it has already gotten so quickly. They had a pretty decent spring as well, but those blown leads against the Marlins just completely took the wind out of their sails. Now add on Gonzales and Jones being hurt in addition to Horwitz and it's already looking ugly.
Pham definitely doesn’t want to be here. I’m guessing he’s only here because no one else wanted him and because he may have thought he could be productive enough in such a shit lineup to get moved to a contender at the deadline.
