OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

"Hodgepodge of nothingness"

You have a billionaire owner, who is subsidized by taxpayers and MLB/rich teams, operating in the green, year after year, with no incentive to deviate from that model. The Pirates are the end result.

So yeah, Eckersley was right. People who have been this disgusted with the franchise for years, were right. Stop spending your money folks. Do it for f***ing logic, if nothing else. You're wasting money on an absolute loser. It's madness.

eck is 100% right, cherington should be fired yesterday. this is all on him. other small market teams are miles better this with the same constraints

I think they really thought Mlodzinski would pitch a real inning count. It wasn't meant to be two bullpen games in a row.

Which shows how desperate they were. Lol.

I think if it was for how the schedule lines up they would have had harrington in the rotation from the jump. Essentially the Mlod start was just a bullpen game where he can go back and be the swingman.

It was just a bad idea either way exacerbated by starting 1-3

This is all on the Owner IMO. We already knew who Cherrington and Shelton were.

DK recently made a compelling case they're losing money.

I question how even this Ownership could go this route in 25 if they were making $. This was an attempt at saving cash by not having to transition management.

Tbh I didn’t even realize Bednar had options left, but hell yeah he’s gone.

I bet they saw Mlodzinski in the starting rotation and totally scrapped the idea of him starting. Just make Harrington the #5 starter and put Mlodzinski back in the bullpen.

Yeah I thought Mlodzinski was going to be the opener and they didn’t want to burn Bubba until may by starting his clock not actually try pitching 5 innings a game

The vibes feel worse with this team than it has at any point since the 2019 collapse, and they're only 5 games in. No clue if the team feels this way too but it really seems like fans are already hopeless with this team.

This feels like a year that could totally bottom out and show that they were even overachieving in the last 2 years.

i cant believe how much i hate tommy pham already

It's only a few games in and he already has the body language of "I don't want to be here". Super easy guy to dislike.

This team can definitely turn it around because it's so early, but it's just shocking how low it has already gotten so quickly. They had a pretty decent spring as well, but those blown leads against the Marlins just completely took the wind out of their sails. Now add on Gonzales and Jones being hurt in addition to Horwitz and it's already looking ugly.

The last 2 years their final records were propped up by great Aprils. They generally played at a 90-95 loss pace from May 1 onward each of the last 2 years. We may get that from the outset this year.
