Gaslighting is cool I guess.

Carry on.
wait a moment here...

Who do you think is gaslighting who in this situation?

Caps fans who've seen a player get a fresh start and is playing very well as a 2C and contributing to a 11-4-1 start?
OR
posters stuck in the past thinking it's impossible for a fresh start to make one iota of a difference then claiming he's CURRENTLY terrible?

Why LAK tried to force a square peg > round hole and brought in a 2C at a huge salary when they already have strong 1C/2C is beyond me

I don't think a single Caps fan has posted anything suggesting PLD is some underpaid savior, just that he's fit in so far and the McMichael-PLD-Wilson line is crushing it so far

Caps fans are pretty clear-eyed and having had Kuznetsov for years we can quickly ID if/when PLD needs to get shot into the sun

PLD "helping" Kyle Connor is certainly a take. It is now more clear than ever that PLD has Connor and Ehlers (and before that Panarin) to thank for his OK numbers. His 5v5 production has always been just OK even when playing with an elite winger like Connor. PLD was a product of Kyle Connor not the other way around.
So it was a coincidence that Connor had his best years with PLD? I'm not saying PLD is better but he played a game that was clearly more complimentary than anyone he has played with so far. Those two made E. Svechnikov look like a reasonable NHLer.

Huge hustle play to beat out on icing at the end of last game. Still only on pace for ~55 points but the Caps will take his consistent support play and match-up duty any day.

People are overlooking what kind of impact Carbery has had on Caps players. He turned around Mantha's season last year. Two young guys in McMichael and Protas have taken leaps forward. Chychrun looks like a friggin beast. PLD has looked very very good recently, and I think he will get better and better as the season goes on.

"why does this thread keep getting revived?" Say Caps fans who keep reviving it.

Now on pace for 10goals and 54pts at $8.5M per year. If Caps start losing this tune will change soon.
Caps didn't give him 8.5M. Should someone who can put up 50+ points in the NHL just not have a career because another team overpaid him?

Also, I agree that there's very little point for Caps fans to continue to bump this thread for the sake of pounding their chests over every small, positive thing PLD does.

He's worth something like 6-7M of that 8.5M at the moment putting up that kind of production against other teams' best lines. In terms of overpayment, the caps have dealt with much worse in recent years.

PLD looked pretty good against the Devils in the game I saw him play.

It's a feel good story if you ask me for him and the Caps.

Again, I think sometimes players just don’t work out with teams, I feel for Kings fans for the struggles last year and that he sucked for them, I like the Kings. Rob Blake was an idiot for signing the deal, but yeah I'm not going to blame PLD for signing it and I’m not going to sit around expecting him to say “you know what, I’m overpaid, let me give back a few million a year”. The Kings got out of it and the Caps are very happy with him so far, feels like a win-win at this point.

On the Caps end of things everybody can’t really say enough good things about him this year. The Caps and the Kings are both doing very well and I think both sides are happy. Seems like the thread can be put to rest.
