Post-Game Talk: Pickard orders McDavid to go warp speed

Louie as an Oiler Alumni. He chose to stay and raise his family here. He chose a job covering the Oilers.

Yet ppl claim he hates Edmonton, hates the Oilers and roots for everyone but the Oilers...publicly on air no less

So you think it's me with the agenda?
Bubby you’re the one claiming people have agendas. I’m just speaking to how I interpret what I’m watching.

Or Walman for that matter too. He's not afraid to launch it and makes good reads on when to step into the middle too.

I agree that personnel tweaks should start with the point man and then go from there. Although it is currently annoying and not working, there is some sense to giving 97/29 time to sit and look a bit. It just drives me f***ing crazy when Bouchard does it. That position on this power play with the guys we have on the walls needs to be to either quickly fire the puck, or quickly move it to the superstars so they can expose a coverage gap.

Instead he gets it, sits on it, slowly moves it over, takes it back, sits on it, etc, etc, etc. He's got to make quicker plays and I think a change in point man would make a massive difference. I would bet a ton of money that the PP would look worlds different if Klingberg or Walman got a look there.
lol- we get it- you hate Bouchard

My God, this sport is vicious.

The thing I don't get is, since there is no difference between men and women, why aren't there any women competing?
Probably wasn’t your point, but there actually is a women’s division. If you search on their YT page, you can do your own “research.” ;)

I was at the game last night and while the Oilers effort wasn’t the best, it was one of the most fun Oilers games I’ve ever been too. Vegas fans are not used to being on the opposite end of a game like that and they were rattled which made it even more fun.

How high did you jump when Draisaitl scored that OT goal?

If you want to beat our PP you just need to do these two things:

1 - Stack the blue line and aggressively pursue RNH if he takes the pass on entry

2 - Get very aggressive on 29/97/2 if they get the puck. They all will want to sit on it and look for spots, they don't like to move it quickly.

That's it pretty much. It's a stale system that everyone has figured out. There needs to be much, much quicker puck movement, and a lot more put on net, especially off the walls where we don't shoot ever unless it's a clean one timer.

The seams that 97/29 wait around for to open up will open up if they get the puck moving and create more scramble opportunities low. Right now they just sit there and essentially wait to turn it over because lanes aren't opening just because.
So basically get aggressive against any players out in the ice? LOL.

You forgot, run over Pickard in the crease.

Anybody left?

This was so weird, like they were waiting for it to be called back for whatever reason. It did go in and out quick, but when they were still staring, it was quite clear it was just a goal lol.
I thought I was the only one.
I was watching that & actually said out loud(I was alone), "get the f*** to your room guys, it's not being called back".

I don't see how anyone could think Roy's intent was to merely "cross-check" at the puck, and instead hit Frederics face because it "happened to be there and was therefore accidental." Frederic just finished hitting Roy with a check, and I'm sure he didn't like it. The puck fluttering around was a convenient excuse for taking a vicious thrust at a guys face in a heated moment.

I liked how that clown group hung around the bench for a bit after we scored as if they were waiting for the goal to be randomly reversed. So entitled and so used to being on the right side of any and all calls that they probably legitimately believed that the refs were gonna come up with something to make the game continue.
I was honestly worried when I saw that, thinking, what the hell did we do wrong, or, did we really score. When they showed the replay a couple times, I thought, are these guys arrogantly stupid, or what? Did they really think the refs(league) were going to disallow the goal due to an earlier missed call?

So a day later. After the Oilers win the biggest game of the playoffs, in OT, in Vegas, to take a 2-0 lead.

Strikes me that the biggest difference in management of the team is that KK made sure that the stars got as much time as they needed to get healthy for playoffs. Sit Kane all season so that he's good to go? check. Give McD and Drai several games off down the stretch. check (and this is the first time in the whole McDrai arc that the two have been parked for appreciable time. Previously its maybe 1-2 games off)

Then have McD particularly have less of a superstar role this season. WE got some of McD lite this season. Also Hyman lite, Nuge lite etc. Only Drai was bringing his usual. The others took some rest, the team was quicker this year to park any first place ambitions, and personal trophy ambitions and just rest up for playoffs.
Then we pull a Vegas going on a run with a backup goalie instead of the one every club expected, and now other teams are going f***!!!!. Teams don't know how to solve Pickard. for so long scoring against the Oilers was just moving puck across or plays from behind net or screen shots. Pickard is dealing with these.

But the genius in parking a lot of superstars this season and being less reliant on them is trying to force the support players to dig down deep. Indeed the last few weeks of regular season was a strong message that if the team was going anywhere it was doing that with solid support through the lineup. I didn't think this was going to occur, but what a masterful coaching job all round, and getting everybody rowing before playoffs, getting everyone involved.

This is the best coaching staff the Oilers have had since the glory years in everything from strategy, prep, adjustments, involving players positively. Enjoy it people.
This was certainly a gamble and at no point prior to the playoffs did it look like it was going to pay off. The most important piece to this “plan” was ditching the goalie that loses games all by himself. The players attitude did a 180 after that. The same goalie the organization said was so good they didn’t need to add another at the trade deadline. Maybe Bowman was talking about Pickard that day and not Skinner like everybody assumed.

Still a long way to go yet, not even halfway there right now but the team on the ice has certainly given us more reason for optimism than we had going into the first game of the playoffs.

Imagine going to bat for Louie f***ing DeBrusk, he was a shitty player a shitty fighter and yup you guessed it, a shitty commentator too.

This was the most important part of that entire altercation and nobody is talking about it. Frederic had just given Roy a shot to his chest. It was at that moment that Roy snapped and cross checked Frederic in the face. The retaliation is the biggest reason he deserved the suspension.

McDavid taps that little shit in Vancouver - 3 games.
Roy tries to push Frederic’s face in / nothing.

“I wAs TrYiNg To PlAy ThE pUcK”

League sucks Vegas dry every single time without fail. Gary’s Golden Girls can get away with cheating the cap, gets phantom calls constantly, “least penalized team in history” - just f*** off already Bettman you little prick.
