Post-Game Talk: Pickard orders McDavid to go warp speed

If you want to beat our PP you just need to do these two things:

1 - Stack the blue line and aggressively pursue RNH if he takes the pass on entry

2 - Get very aggressive on 29/97/2 if they get the puck. They all will want to sit on it and look for spots, they don't like to move it quickly.

That's it pretty much. It's a stale system that everyone has figured out. There needs to be much, much quicker puck movement, and a lot more put on net, especially off the walls where we don't shoot ever unless it's a clean one timer.

The seams that 97/29 wait around for to open up will open up if they get the puck moving and create more scramble opportunities low. Right now they just sit there and essentially wait to turn it over because lanes aren't opening just because.
One of the reasons Nurse (yes, THAT Nurse), seems to have some success during his limited time on PP's is that all he really does is look for an opening and shoots the damned puck. Nothing fancy, but it creates all kinds of chaos. On the 1st unit, every one seems to think that McDrai have to control everything and defer to them too much. I'd really be interested to see what Klingberg can bring to the 1st unit to give it some spark.

I'm connected through friends to a few NHL reporters and insiders (or well they call themselves insiders) and the expectation from most of them is that the NHL will roll out some sort of rule to prevent LTIR usage as cap circumvention.

In case you guys were still wondering if Gary is actively trying to f*** with us.
Of course, the minute we use the loophole on Kane, the league decides to crack down...

Or Walman for that matter too. He's not afraid to launch it and makes good reads on when to step into the middle too.

I agree that personnel tweaks should start with the point man and then go from there. Although it is currently annoying and not working, there is some sense to giving 97/29 time to sit and look a bit. It just drives me f***ing crazy when Bouchard does it. That position on this power play with the guys we have on the walls needs to be to either quickly fire the puck, or quickly move it to the superstars so they can expose a coverage gap.

Instead he gets it, sits on it, slowly moves it over, takes it back, sits on it, etc, etc, etc. He's got to make quicker plays and I think a change in point man would make a massive difference. I would bet a ton of money that the PP would look worlds different if Klingberg or Walman got a look there.

I hope he was saying too bad, so Saad...

I liked how that clown group hung around the bench for a bit after we scored as if they were waiting for the goal to be randomly reversed. So entitled and so used to being on the right side of any and all calls that they probably legitimately believed that the refs were gonna come up with something to make the game continue.

Lol. Except Louie is 100% correct. He never defended the decision, he just reported it.

Roy 100% decides for some asinine reason to play the puck with a cross check. You can literally see him tracking the puck with his eyes(No Eakins intended) and then trying to hit it. It was an absolutely bad decision, but it happened nonetheless

It's crazy how many of you listen to common English and morph it into something entirely different.

I listened to the same Louie explanation, and nowhere close did he defend the play. He merely broke down the reason the player did.

No clue why some people have an agenda
I got no clue what your agenda is or why you have it either Champ.

Vegas fans whining after all the favorable referee and their cheating ways. I hope Kane goes supernova so we can hear them whine all year how much we cheated and how the refs favored us.

Stone can go lick the sweat off of Eichel’s stones if he got any left after McDavid blew by him.

Can I just say how massive it was to have the 4th line, in the 2nd with the team struggling to get anything done, to not only provide energy, but to give this team the lead.

Incredible performance from that group.

Almost all Stanley Cup Champions have a 3rd or 4th line that are a handful for almost any line on the other team and can win a strong majority of their shifts out of pure work and will.

At no point have we had that until the Janmark - Henrique - Brown line emerged in the Conference Finals last year, then look what happened. This year we got that almost out of the gate with Podkolzin - Janmark - Arvidsson and IMO it's a large reason we're 6-2 so far.

Just let them chase Arvidsson all over the ice and take their "revenge". The way you manage this is to score on the pp. At this point the win is the big goal. Sending Kane after Eichel would probably end up in either a significant penalty for Kane or a suspension.

To be clear I wasn't exactly saying that Fredreic and Kane would be taking runs at Eichel specifically.

I'm simply saying if they wanna be dicks around Arvidsson all we need to do is put either 91 or 21 beside Leon and Connor with the instruction that if you don't have the puck and you're not in the defensive zone you're hitting Eichel at every opportunity. It's a veiled threat.

There is zero chance that Roy was trying to cross check the puck. That is not a thing. He was clearly trying to cross check Frederic and likely landed higher than he intended

Louie as an Oiler Alumni. He chose to stay and raise his family here. He chose a job covering the Oilers.

Yet ppl claim he hates Edmonton, hates the Oilers and roots for everyone but the Oilers...publicly on air no less

So you think it's me with the agenda?

I like RV but that’s fine, Jeff Skinner could fill in on the 4th line for a game no problem
Arvidsson had 2 assists last game. He helped set up 2 of the goals. How will Jeff Skinner be able to fill in when he hasn't played for so long and is not good at board battles lol
