Oilers somehow ended up with the edge in expected goals after that complete dog shit 2nd period and start of OT.

The second period was dog shit? They were almost even in shots and outscored them 3-1. I thought the dog shit came in the third when they were getting dominated for minutes at a time.

I started that game as 41 years old, now I am close to retirement man...that was really hard to watch at times and even harder for my lifespan ;-)

The best chance to score came off the rush when McDavid carried the puck behind the net and tried to make a play from there at high speed. From there they passed it around for another minute and a half without getting a scoring opportunity. All that time I was hoping Vegas would get control, shoot it down the ice and then maybe McDavid could get another rush chance. Nothing else was working.

The winning goal wasn’t a power play goal obviously but it was a play created by McDavid’s speed. They’ve gotta figure out how to create more of those types of opportunities. Those big trees (that PK Subban was saying were going to make the Oilers struggle) must have deep roots because they sure don’t move very well.

Our rush game is weaker ever since Knob came over, but yeah we need to get better at breakouts. When Vegas is pressing hard like they did before scoring the fourth, we can counter and create high danger chances. Finding McDavid in stride is key.

Not every game will be perfect. That’s why you need your goalie when it matters. And tonight despite giving up 4 (should have been way more), pickard was fantastic and didn’t let in that next one. But yeah, mcdrai weren’t good which they admitted and edm’s special teams was awful again. That has been a pretty big trend these playoffs. Very uncharacteristic. Thank goodness for the depth scoring. They carried often these playoffs.

these are the games needed to win a cup, lousy but still a win.

I have no f***ing sympathy for that fairweather fanbase out of all teams in the league. VGK has always been the precious golden child of Gary Bettman. What Arvy did to McNabb is a penalty, but in no way shape or form was it more malicious than Roy crosschecking Freddy in the face. If anything, Roy should get a game for that bullshit.

Shots were almost even in every period. Scoring chances were 11-1 for Vegas in the 2nd, the score was almost entirely because Hill was pooping himself. Which I'm not about to feel sorry for as an Oilers fan.

We just need to look back to round 1 of the Florida/Tampa series where Ekblad got two games for a cross check to the face. He tried to use the “I didn’t mean to get him in the face” excuse and the league didn’t buy it. This one was at least similar and arguably much worse because it looked like Roy snapped. I don’t see how there won’t be a suspension coming.

The only other time I’ve seen an NHL player dive at a players knees after he was beaten was when Giordano took out McDavid. It’s not a hockey play, thankfully they are rare and yes, they should be severely punished.

Dude, McNabb is definitely fine. You can tell he embellished it. Squirms on the ice like he lost his hand or something, then looks up to see if a ref is watching, but no one is, and just gets up and skates off. That was just pure acting.
