At the end of the day despite blowing a 2 goal lead in the third, Pickard didn't allow that next one and that's something he has been doing very well in general since he took the crease. Skinner does what we saw in Game 1 of the Kings series far too often. Letting in back breaking goals. Pickard hasn't been. That's the difference. Not every game is going to be a Picasso and at the end of the day no one will remember or care as long as they got the W. Take it and move on. lolI do think that you are right about people giving Pickard a little more grace than Skinner. I don’t doubt that there would be tons of comments about Skinner’s lateral movement if it was Stu that let in those PP goals. I don’t think people would’ve liked Pietrangelo’s goal either.
The difference is the huge saves that Pickard was making in between those goals. We really shouldn’t have held Vegas to four goals tonight and it’s a testament to Pickard that we did. That’s why people are willing to forgive him for the goals he did let in. While Stu can get hot he really struggled at stopping high danger scoring chances this year. It feels like most of our big mistakes end up in the net when he plays and I’m sure he wouldn’t have done as well as Picks did tonight.
Tbh I don’t even know why we’re still talking about Skinner. It’s clearly Pickard’s net for the rest of the playoffs.
