I thought they did start the game on time tonight honestly. Other than a shitty turnover on the 1st shift every line came out and did well. But then once again somehow still managed to put themselves short handed for 4 minutes.

I'll tell you the difference with Skinner when the game was tight and it was 1 - 1 Pickard made a big save on pearson on a clear cut breakaway.

Immediately after they go the other way and podkolzin beats hill clean and makes it 2 - 1.

If it's skinner out there he doesn't make the timely big save and instead it's Vegas up 2 - 1.

Hopefully they play much better in Edmonton. Some of the stretches of that game were tough to watch.

They definitely need to raise their urgency levels when they have a chance to kill an opponent. Those power plays in the 3rd and OT were awful.

Yeah, that's fair. Taking the first penalty every game and the PK being a nearly automatic GA has put them on the wrong foot.

If they fix the special teams, this team will be unstoppable.

I do think that you are right about people giving Pickard a little more grace than Skinner. I don’t doubt that there would be tons of comments about Skinner’s lateral movement if it was Stu that let in those PP goals. I don’t think people would’ve liked Pietrangelo’s goal either.

The difference is the huge saves that Pickard was making in between those goals. We really shouldn’t have held Vegas to four goals tonight and it’s a testament to Pickard that we did. That’s why people are willing to forgive him for the goals he did let in. While Stu can get hot he really struggled at stopping high danger scoring chances this year. It feels like most of our big mistakes end up in the net when he plays and I’m sure he wouldn’t have done as well as Picks did tonight.

Tbh I don’t even know why we’re still talking about Skinner. It’s clearly Pickard’s net for the rest of the playoffs.

We will never know and people slagging Skinner when's he's not even playing isn't cool. But I do think no chance he makes it cross crease to make those big saves that Pickard did.
