PHT article on Richards "under pressure"

After the deals that have been handed out by some of the GMs this summer, the Richards contract no longer bugs me.

No articles at this point will cover any more ground than we've exhausted in every Richards thread thus far :P

I think most of us were appeased for the offseason with the note that DL was critical of his preparation and Richards himself was as well; not much to do but play the waiting game and see if he bounces back hard.

I'm sure you are right, I couldn't read all the posts in each of the Richards' threads due to burn out. :D However, the article is a damn good summary of what Richards is facing this upcoming season and some of the comments shed interesting perspectives as well. Pretty good effort by PHT this time around, at least they are doing their homework, which really can't be said most of the time over there at that website.

I just have a hard time taking an article seriously that says he had a "heavy defensive workload"

I understand it's hard for writers to watch every game, especially for a west coast based team, but the Kings have played significantly more playoff games over the past three years than any other team, and there are plenty of ways to look at how much defensive responsibility a player has or how he performs defensively. It seems that this writer failed to look at any of those numbers.

I don't think the 2010 player is ever coming back, if he can return to 2012 levels he stays, if he has another year like he had this season he is gone.

Hey, look! It's Herby on a Mike Richards thread, imagine that...:sarcasm:

Pretty much. Heck, if Richards has a good bounce back season, then Great! If not, we have Lombardi in charge, so, no worries.

Stupid post.

So others can comment when reporters write stuff with BS in it, but I can't since it's on Richards.

Or do you agree with the writer that Richards had a heavy defensive workload?

It's because you repeat, repeat, repeat the same things over and over.

And you guys don't?

Once again, I commented on an article where a writer clearly didn't have that great a read on the 2014 Kings and your guys bat signal turns on and you come in here.

Or do you agree with with the writer said about Richards defensive role on the Kings?

Or do you object to what I said after, which I think was a fair comment, if he returns to previous form he stays on the Kings but if he plays like he did in 2014 he is probably gone, please again tell me what is so out of line with any of those comments?

Confession time: When the Ducks had our backs against the wall after game 5, I wanted Richards gone in the summer. He's always my man but his late performance won't cut it if he doesn't find his groove again. I hope he makes the most of the summer by getting ready for the next season.

Ot, had a competely strange dream: Kings were getting eliminated in the second round game 7. The strange part is they got eliminated in the shootout. The stranger part is it was Bayern Munich who eliminated them.

Exactly, he'll probably flip him for Malkin.

I thought the Kings had to choose between Richards and Gaborik this offseason? I seem to remember a discussion like that occurring. Next offseason it'll be losing Williams or Martinez or both because of Richards contract. Can't wait for that drum to be beat to death.

Dunno what's the big deal. IMO, his cap hit is now probably considered at very least tolerable after some of the big contracts that has been handed out this summer. In a couple more summers its going to be considered a bargain....

As long as he's on this team it'll play out like that.

Let's all remember it's not as bad as Ryane Clowe or David Clarkson:laugh:

Richie comes in in clutch mode though.

I have confidence in a happy ending here.

Mike will kick his offseason-prep-conditioning up a major notch,
have a 57-point season, get another Cup ring,
and in June, 2015 we trade him to Toronto for
their 1st and 2nd round picks in the Draft.

Trevor Lewis/Nick Shore/Nick Dowd
will compete for the open C spot in the fall of 2015.

It will all be good.

:shakehead:facepalm: For the 9001st time, breaking up Mike Richards and Jeff Carter is toxic to team chemistry; just ask Columbus about Jeff's time there.

Seriously, any Mike Richards trade requests will eventually have Jeff included and even then, I much rather keep both until further notice.

Well said. It is a package deal and would hurt chemistry.
