There was a somewhat similar case recently in the NRL (rugby league, Australia) where a kid was spotted in the crowd in tears after his team had been defeated. Huge on social media for a while.

A couple of weeks later, the kid was his team's special guest, even walked onto the pitch with the captain before kick off. Must have been the greatest moment of his life.

80 minutes later, his team had been dismantled 68-0 at home.

Sports is cruel sometimes.
