Yeah these are the guys you sign on July 5th. Not even July 1st and certainly not mid season extensions.

Like if he wants to sign near league min go for it but other than that why bother.

I prefer knowing the GM is doing various works. Both the McMann and Benoit extensions were done in-season.

Doesn’t preclude other work.

Knies makes sense.

Yea...I was thinking another 775k or 800k deal at most, otherwise we can find another depth guy.

League minimum seems right for someone who isn't consistently in the league, right? That makes sense to me. If he's willing to take league minimum then yes, extend him for another year or two. You can do worse for a #7 defender.

And Myers has to know that he could end up in a worse situation with a different team that doesn't play him any NHL time, like his last two seasons in Tampa where he only got 5 and 11 games.

Toronto can pay big bucks even when he's in the AHL. So that's gotta be a factor for someone who plays more AHL than NHL.

You don't want to leave everything last minute on July 1st.

If they like the guy for his current role as like an 8/9 D man, and he's willing to sign for the right price, there's no reason not to do it.
