Thomson needs to finally snap out of his Walker daze and look at today's game and yesterday's game and realize you can't have a pitcher throwing upper 80s to barely low 90s fastballs over the plate and not have MLB hitting CRUSH THEM. There are so many more pitchers today who throw mid to upper 90s. More hitting 100 than ever.

Hitters today seeing a guy throwing 88-92 is like a hitter from 30 years ago seeing a guy sitting 83-86.

Unless that pitcher has some great secondary pitches or some really good movement on their fastball (which neither Walker nor today's Diamondbacks pitcher do) they are getting crushed.

I think Greg Maddux would be an exception. Although Greg Maddux with ROBO-UMPS would become much more hittable. He got some pretty friendly and expanded strike-zones and with his ability to locate he knew how to take advantage of those wide zones.

Ranger Suarez is a modern day Maddux. Not saying he is as good at this time (though he has been so far this season) but if Ranger can be this good in 2024, you better damn sure believe Maddux would as well. Low 90's is plenty when you can actually pitch.

I’d say more Nola. Nola has been like the best command pitcher in the league since they’ve been able to quantify it. He’s had success even when his velocity wanes. Even has the front door two seamers to lefties that Maddux was famous for.
