I just want ONE game where all of the big $ guys show the f*** up and contribute. Hasnt happened since the 19-4 game I attended.
Its really remarkable inparticular how poor their power numbers are. Like this team should easily have 5 guys with 20+ homers (maybe more if Stott or Bohm got there)...they might only end up with barely 2 or 3. They just arent getting those exclimation point HRs.

And ofcourse...the far and away team leader is our lead off hitter.

I still think losing Rhys really hurt this team. Factor that in with Bryce's total loss of power and Turners struggles...they lost a lot of HR threats.

Words cannot describe how much I hate this guy & sports talk radio here in Philly.

I actually love that the fans did this today. Was nice to show the world we're giving love to a player who has been horrid in an active attempt to positively reinforce them rather than our standard negative.

Mind you, he deserves every single boo he gets, but I like the switch up here from us.

Agreed. And he came through with an RBI knock. Hopefully thats a baby step in the right direction. At least he knows now we will support him at his lowest and to not let any boos, which no one is immune from in sports, in the future effect him.

I think it was embarrassing but at the same time I think booing him just because is embarrassing too.

My post had more to do with the WIP guy has been one of the bigger fire starters in regards to Trea Turner this year.

Turner has been a big disappointment this year relatively to expectations/contract. But this same guy was trying to say yesterday he needs to used as backup down the stretch as if it really makes a difference given his likely backup is Sosa who’s been worse this year when factoring just pure results regardless of other factors.

They’re doing it because they love to sniff their own farts. The vast majority of them aren’t supporting Turner. They’re doing it to make themselves feel good. They’re still going to whisper to their friends that this guy sucks. They’re still going to call into WIP and bad mouth him.

Doing it once was fine but cheering for him like this EVERY at bat is going to have the same effect as booing him.

Two of the biggest lies ever told are that the Philadelphia fanbase is knowledgeable and the other is that “No one likes us, we don’t care.”

Howard, you need a bonk.

That's a fair stand to take I think. Actually he and my boy ESP were pissing me off royally a few days ago about Hassan Reddick's contract.

Reddick said barely anything about deserving more money than he's getting paid right now, and both of these guys actively are creating the narrative that Reddick should hold the Eagles hostage for more money right now. It's all a snow ball effect, too. So more people talk about it, articles are written, more questions get asked to Reddick, resentment becomes prevalent until a deal is done.

Maddening.

I don't think it's totally as serious as you do, but I also don't look at WIP/callers/Philly fans in general with this level of vitriol. I thought this was pretty objectively a nice thing to do because it's so out of character for us.

Doing it once is fine though but them doing it for all four at bats is overkill and just so fake, IMO.

They’re doing it because they want to look good and not because they’re actually supporting Turner.

I'd boo his sorry ass. It sure as shit isn't for no reason, as someone said up there somewhere

I'd boo Nola louder though

You're being a little cynical here, but yeah, tough to feel bad for a guy that's got 300 million dollars guaranteed to him.

Again, I have no problem with them doing it once but from that point forward it’s more effective, IMO, to just do nothing. Don’t cheer and don’t boo.

If you’re up there as a human you’re going to press more with that ovation, aren’t you? That’s not going to help.

I’d personally hate it if I was Turner. I’m an athlete that earned a $300M contract, I don’t need to be treated like I’m some charity case.

I think that's where you're probably getting a little too passionate about the issue. Turner may do better with positive reinforcement than negative.

The dude is clearly going through it right now. The other night he sounded like he was going to cry when he took blame for losing the game. Maybe to him, knowing that the city hasn't abandoned him is just what he needed.

All I know is, we have Turner for like 11 or 12 more years, so I'm down to not ruin this dude's mind -- and giving him some standing ovations when he probably doesn't deserve it is fine by me.
