winning 3 of 4 on the road vs a rival that you are in direct fight for a wild card spot is huge but only this years team could make it sting some as a 4 game road sweep would have been huge.

That said this team has looked very impressive when facing the best teams in the league. They have the talent but they can't seem to string together consistent solid defensive games as it's how ugly some of their errors have looked, they must figure out a way to improve defensively or it will likely cost them any shot of a repeat to the WS. If your offense is going to be this inconsistent, then the defense can't be this bad when the playoffs roll around.

Baseball is such a crazy sport though, I can't begin to wrap my head around Turner. The guy has the most hits over the last few years of any player in the NL and then signs and just looks like shit way too often. I got to think he bounces back at some point but again I have no answer as to why he looks so bad.

When's the last time Turner started an at bat 1-0?

The World Baseball Classic?
I don’t recall all of the ABs but I know that grand slam against Venezuela he was down 0-2 before he got a hanging offspeed pitch that he crushed.

Like Castellanos last year, this is the crux of it. He’s always behind in the count. Mostly because his pitch recognition has been awful but partially because he’s always been that way. Unfortunately this year he is not squaring up anything.

If you look at historical production by count, if you’re behind in the count, batting averages are sub-.200. It’s not hard to see why he’s where he’s at.
