Ruben is BRUTAL. Having to listen to him and T-Mac should result in us all getting awards.
Not only is he just awful, but he SOUNDS awful. He doesn't even pass the most basic "annoying voice" test for TV/radio. He's so f***ing nasally

What a terrible pitch by Robertson. He has him 0-2 and left a pitch right down the middle to Nick. The guy will swing at anything .
Vintage Robertson. Or the Phillies version anyway. Both times.

Again, another Jack of diamonds added to this house of cards. The offense won't hold up. Hoping for another timely fall hot streak is loser mentality

The Mets are trying to tank for a high draft pick anyway. They have some consequences if they don’t pick lower than 7th I believe.

Their pick falls ten spots for being over the tax threshold. I think if they finish 1-6 in the lottery they can keep their slot. I think that’s the gist of it.
Ah hah

Castro has a sneaky .900 ops vs lefties in his career. About 220 PAs.

Just tell him to keep his phone in the dugout

I am once again here to tell you that automerge is the worst feature ever rolled out in the history of the internet

The tl;dr the MLB luxury tax(MLB calls it competitive balance tax) has varying financial penalties for teams based on how many times in a row they have been over and to what degree they are over.

If a team exceeds the 'lowest threshold' by more than $40m their first round draft pick will be moved 10 spots back unless it is in the top-6. In which case their 2nd round pick drops back 10 spots.

2023 is $233M (as the threshold) so any team $273M or more takes the 10 spot penalty for their draft pick.

The Mets payroll is like $340m and even after saving a little bit on trades it's still likely well over $300m.

I’m in my 30’s and I’m a little embarrassed to say I still don’t fully understand what a balk is if it isn’t on a pickoff. Like what is the point of a pitcher stepping off the rubber with his back foot?
Messes with the batters rhythm would be my guess.

If rooting for your team to win is loser mentality what is rooting for your team to lose?

I really dont get your logic. I get that this team was built in a non traditional/non ideal way...but it is what it is and it got us at least in the mix after years of watching actual garbage post 2011. Theyre pot comitted to the Harper/Realmuto/Schwarber/Castellanos/Wheeler/Turner core now...theres no going back. So why root for these guys to lose?

There's something called "hope chess" when you play chess. Essentially, it's not playing the best move and hoping the opponent doesn't refute your trick, because if he doesn't you'll be in a winning position. Hoping to get hot in October is hope chess. Instead of addressing weaknesses, they're just hoping. Meanwhile, the Astros traded for Verlander.

Calling out this house of cards is not rooting for them to lose. Do you really think I sat slumbed back in my chair at Citizens Bank put my head in my hands when Castellanos hit his homer a few weeks ago against the Brewers? I was the first one up! Do you really think I hope Aaron Nola gives up 5 homers the inning after the Phillies score twice to tie the game? (after he gave up a 2 run homer to surrender the lead in the first place)

The only team I've rooted to lose is the Flyers.
