They were ACTUALLY unwatchable for like 10 years, so even though this team has its warts, it's been nice to watch meaningful baseball in September the past 3 seasons.
Braves fan here, honestly he’s been pretty good most of the season. Even tonight, he could of lost the game but settled down and got out of the jam. I’m pretty confident this team can hit their way out of most trouble anyway. I was very confident that they would get that run home in the 10th because they’re excellent with risp with timely hitting. And I also felt good in the bottom of the 10th even with brad freaking hand because the Phillies are awful at it. I told my buddy who I went with that the game is either ending on a walk off homer or a Braves win after the 9th. Thats one huge difference between the teams. The Braves can play small ball and manufacture an important run or play home run derby. They don’t rely on the long ball as much as the Phillies do even though they’ve hit more. Also, major lol at “character issues”. It’s called swagger and expecting to win every night and they feed off it. They know if one guy is having an off night the next guy is going to pick them up. As someone who watches both teams frequently, the Phillies could use more of it. Not saying they’re definitely going to win it all or even win a series vs the Phillies because baseball playoffs are such a small sample size but this is definitely one of the most complete Braves teams I’ve watched in 30 years as a fan. Up there with ‘95 and ‘99 and definitely better than the ‘21 winning team. Definitely the best line up. And I wouldn’t trade Fried, Strider, Morton, and Wright for any other starting 4 in baseball. Need a couple of bullpen guys to get healthy(Chavez,Mchugh), but this team has as good as shot as any. They’ve murdered every big series they’ve faced this year thus far. If they win it all, they should be up there with some of the other all time great teams. If they fall short, they would be much more like the 01 Mariners than the 07 Mets. You think braves fans feel good about Inglesias right now?
I mean I think most managers would put their faith in the 30 million supposed “best catcher in baseball” to come through with a hit or a sharp pull to at least move the runners over. I also don’t think a bunt would have made a huge difference. They’d just walk the bases loaded and then possibly still get the double play because this team blows at situational hitting other than hitting home runs. As an someone looking from the outside and not as a Phillies fan, I didn’t think it was that egregious. I feel like our manager would have done the same thing. There’s absolutely no way Snit would bunt Sean Murphy or TD in that situation. JT just needs to come through there. Also, wtf was JT thinking calling 7 straight fastballs to Rosario. That was soooo dumb. Eddie swings at literally everything, one curveball there and he probably is K’d.Not bunting Bohm a few games ago is understandable. Just because it's not what my choice would have been doesn't mean it's unreasonable. But not bunting tonight? That is unreasonable. Horrendous managing

Yeah but it was an opposite field homer. He's fixing things!! And he had those diving catches in the playoffs last year! War shmoreHR tonight, yippee, but All-Star Castellanos has been worth 0.5 WAR this season, as FanGraphs goes. Pache and Rojas, in a combined 30% of the PA, have been worth 1.8 WAR.
As much as Schwarber is an abomination defensively, he does have positive offensive impacts and DHing solves that. Castellanos, despite the narratives, is a bottom 3ish outfielder himself among qualified players, with empty numbers. I can’t watch him for 3 more years.
They could’ve won all 3 so far against Atlanta. I know shoulda coulda woulda. But they’re a resilient bunch that believes they can hang with the best team in baseball — and they do. The anti-clutch bullpen and questionable managerial choices are what they are.

He's been hit hard his last 2 starts but was damn near unhittable in the 3 prior to those. Will be interesting to see if he's wearing down or if the last 2 were just an aberration.Wonder if they get good Strider tonight
Philly fans did that.Trea Turner splits since the ovation are crazy.
.388/.430/.820 16 HRs 41 RBIs(!) 229 wRC+
Obviously Trea is a great talent with a great track record who was enduring an extended slump after a crazy offseason and was going to turn it around eventually. I truly believe that. Despite my shitposting.Philly fans did that.
Again, obviously it's not some romantic movie shit, but I believe there's a sliver of something there. You'll never hear me say "we fixed him!" though. That's ridiculous

But I also think the ovation took some pressure off. I'm not saying he's still be hitting .240 or whatever and slugging .300, but there is an element in there that helped in some magnitude. I believe that too. Players also believe it. Plouffe had a nice segment on it. Of course it wasn't the reason, but when something like that happens it's a little easier just for one game to relax and just play, and all it takes for a player like Turner to get things rolling are 2-3 games with nice swings.
