Painter and Miller both needed to be legit a-grade MLB regulars for this aging core to have any real hope for the next 5-7 year period.

Saying Painter doesn't have the stuff is hilarious. He will be fine. Lest we forget he's a year removed from TJ.

Aiden Miller on the other hand? That's a guy to be worried about. Dude's back doesn't work.

Painter had Tommy John in July of 2023. He pitched all of 2025. Is it really an excuse still?

His fastball has zero finish on it and he can't locate any of his pitches so he's forced to leave them middle of the plate.

Right now, he's absolutely terrible and would likely get hit around in AAA again, just like he did last year.

He just turned 23. Look up the rookie numbers of most good to great starting pitchers. Sometimes it takes time. Not everyone is like Skenes. Miz after making the ASG last year pitched to a 5 ERA.

A young arm losing a developmental year in the upper levels of the minors then hitting the majors 1 year removed from coming back is an excuse yes.

He has swing and miss stuff. He induces lots of whiffs and doesn't give up much hard contact. Those are good signs. Once he finds his location again, he will be fine. Most of it is coming off not being able to locate his fastball. This was never a problem for him all through the minors pre-procedure so I am hopeful he can find it again. He's a 23 yr old rookie and a young 23 at that. Giving up on him right now is a Flyers move
