GDT: Philadelphia Flyers at Ottawa Senators - 1PM - TSN5 / RDS2 - Afternoon Delight Edition (This game means nothing)

It's good to see Stutzle and Zetterlund getting goals. Stutzle especially. It's good to head into the playoffs knowing you've scored recently instead of feeling like you're snake bitten.

Not sure there's all that much else to take away from this game.
I think the other takeaway was that we won even without a lot of our roster regulars out of the lineup (Jensen, Grieg, Perron & Brady).

I was at the game yesterday (I'm an Avs fan btw, pleased to meet you). First time seeing a game in Ottawa. I was with two friends who were visiting from Chile, it was their first ever hockey game. Great time had by all. Packed house, fun atmosphere, entertaining game. Great experience all around.

Best of luck in the playoffs! I'll be cheering for you guys unless you play us in the final.

Cheers, it's nice to hear some positives from a neutral fan.

Good luck to you guys also, although with the firepower you guys have, not sure you need it as much as us!

They did win and that's all that matters at the end of the day, but they still should have won at home vs the flyers without those guys.

What section were your seats in? Thinking about you Chile friends. As you know, the higher up you are, the less sensation of the speed you get.

This would be a dofferent shtick than thinking they suck.

What have they gone through? Multiple deaths? Bad diagnosis from doctors to multiple teammates? Don’t think they’ve been through anything abnormal except for bad goaltending.

They wanted to cheat offensively for years because DJ let them.

Them whining about it is the only cringe thing
Not sure anyone whined about it. I find it strange that you think you have gone through some shit as a fan of the Sens over the last several years, but somehow the players haven’t?

They didn’t want to cheat offensively because DJ let them, that is a ridiculous perspective in my opinion. The far more rational perspective, in my opinion, is that they were playing the system that DJ coached them to play, and it wasn’t proving to be successful.

I mean, if you think back to how our previous owner ran the organization, and considers things that have been said by players who have left, I think it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say that it’s been a shit show.

I don’t think Stu was trying to say that they had to go through multiple deaths and whatever bullshit you made up, rather, the organization had been in turmoil from the collapse of the roster and the EK/Hoffman debacle all the way up until last year when new ownership took over. Add multiple firings during the season, and an embarrassing loss of a first rounder to further reinforce that the team was a joke. You may be offended being a fan of the team, but imagine playing in the jersey while everyone is talking about your mickey-mouse organization.

This year there has been steady leadership from top down with no adversity, no turmoil, no embarrassing issues, professionalism everywhere, cup winning bets brought in to steady the room, and they have been winning.

The team and room has changed, and the players are enthusiastic about it as it compares to previous years. I think everyone is excited about it except you, you are not excited about it because there wasn’t enough adversity to fill your adversity-meter…..

You think stutzle was referring to the fallout of Hoffman and karlssons wives scandals?
These guys should have been in the playoffs 2 years ago.

They weren’t. Now they’re there. Let’s see what they do

I totally get what you're saying. In the playoffs, goals are hard to come by so trying to score is helping the team as opposed to trying to help linemates score. What frustrates me with Stu is that when they get behind, he tries to do the impossible play which usually leads to a turnover. If he would just consistently shoot more, then there are better odds that the score will be in Sens favor.
I agree totally... he doesn't need to do anything more than what makes him so special in the first place, and overdoing it just hurts the team.

It's similar to the team actually, and what I've been harping one lately. When they play well and have a solid lead, don't come out and stupidly try to play even-strength PK for the rest of the game. Worst thing team can do is change over play to defensive, dump and change, just try to hold onto a lead. More often than not it gives the other team life. Just keep the foot on the gas pedal and continue to do what gave the team the lead in the first place. Of course play smart defense, but don't change the flow of the game.

I think he was referring to the increasing shit show that has been the organization since he was drafted (really since the EM outdoor game rant). Chabby and Brady have a few more years of experiencing it.

That timeframe means most of the young team came into the league in a dysfunctional organization, and are only now seeing what stability and professionalism looks like.

I think that’s what he meant.

Probably referring to being served boxed quesadillas in a warming drawer for the post-game meal. It was an offense to his refined German palette.

Hmmm... what was that you were saying about Timmy trying to do too much?! Nailed it!
