If the Bears retain the salary hit for next year if he gets cut, this is a solid move.

For a 4th round pick

Yeesh that's a fleecing

He's been kind of MIA this year, IMO So maybe a better environment helps, edit: just saw your comment about double teams.. perhaps that's why.

NFL trade deadline sucks. Don't know why it's in week 8...

I would have much rather Brian Burns (depending on price). If that guy ends up going for Rams/Von Miller trade value, I'll be sad.

Panthers aren't trading Burns for anything less than at least 1 first round pick. They see him as part of the long term plan.

He's good, but he's not worth the price it'll take to get him out of Charlotte

I'd consider the latter of the two 1st round picks for Burns, but no 2nd. Possibly a future 3rd. Depending on where the Saints finish, it would be tempting to trade down in the first, especially if there is a QB-hungry team willing to dance.

I'm sure Howie probably already considered this while taking a shit. That, and dozens of other scenarios.

Agreed, as well they shouldn't. But GMs do dumb things all the time.

Saw reports Carolina turned down 2 1's for Burns.

If cost is that high I would pass especially if one of the picks is NO pick.
