OT: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): When You're Up, It's Never As Good As It Seems, And When You're Down, You Never Think You'll Be Up Again

I would be shocked if they go WR after trading up for Smith and giving up a 1st and 3rd for Brown.
I assume Murphy will be long gone at #10-11 (but who knows how things will go over the next few months).
I would also be surprised if they go DT again. But I guess Bresee has the type of pass rushing upside that they might covet.

I would not surprised at all if Howie is looking for a dance partner in a trade down once again if OT and WR are the top options at our pick.

To me, they're one WR/TE short. That doesn't mean they have to spend a 1 or anything. Ideally, I would trade down and pick up one of those on Day 2 or very early Day 3. I was hoping Tyree Jackson would get there, but that's not looking so good.

WR is becoming another position where if you think A GUY (all caps) is there, don't overthink it.

One thing I would caution with EDGEs is assuming where a guy might go or even if you want him before testing. That's the position where it means the most.

Meh. I don't think you can justify spending a 1st on another WR after everything we have invested and considering that Hurts is getting his huge extension in the near future and Brown is already earning 20m+, thats just too many ressources allocated there IMO . Also we have Goedert who commands his fair share of targets and that we are paying a decent chunk and DeVonta won't come cheap either 2-3 years from now once he gets his. With Hurts potentially on a 45-50m/ year deal, I think you need to go rather cheap (aka later round picks /UDFAs) when it comes to your 4th receiving option over the next 5 years.

I fully agree that it is far too early to really predict who will go where aside from maybe the top2 QBs. But Murphy looks to me like he is a decent bet to be DE #2 that will be gone rather early.
There are a ton of corners that could be interesting as well and a lot will depend on testing there as well and how their tape will hold up to further scrutiny.
Ringo probably will blow everyone away at the combine and "swindle" someone into picking him far higher than they should.
We also don't yet know who the Eagles will keep around especially on their secondary.

Waltzing to a championship in the league that doesn't matter

Beautiful runs from Sanders

I am once again here to tell you that automerge is the worst feature ever rolled out in the history of the internet

Well the Titans SOS is only 0.002 better for now and there are still games to be played today. Not sure it will stay that way.

I kind of thought we were a lock to go pass rush with that pick but I am not really sure about it anymore considering that we are probably out of range of the top tier guys. I am also not sure if this is the draft to go with an OT that high. I would rather give Stout a later pick on a development guy personally.
Ahh that makes sense 👍

Edit also, just get someone in the off-season that can break a PR please.

I would suspect I see DeVonta's second contract at a bigger number than you do. WR contracts are going to the moon. I'm not sure they'll be able to afford him.

One note on Corners for me -- Christian Gonzalez is fantastic. Horrendous scheme fit here, sadly. He can do what they want, but you're not leveraging the skills that make him so good under Gannon.

It would suck losing DeVonta but I could see it. But that would make me even more hesitant to pick another WR that high considering that we couldn't pay that guy either if we hit on him.

Gonzalez was the first corner I thought of at #10 but like you I am not convinced that they will pick one that high unless he is a perfect fit / prospect for the Eagles. I am not sure if there are Gardner / Stingley level prospects in this draft and as you said Gonzalez might not be the greatest fit even though I am not sure that Gannon really should play a major role in this decision because he might not be here for long (one way or the other).

EDIT:
Dak with another pick 6 :D

Uhhhhh. Did Robert Quinn get healthy?!

so it would be necessary to go WR with the 1st round pick and let Smith go after his contract is up?

Not necessary. Not even likely. I would just be less surprised than it would seem on first viewing. I'm sure they want to keep him like we all do.

Yes surprisingly so.

Also Corey Clement sighting!
Oh I have not heard that name in quite some time and that brings back good memories. Nice that he has gotten another chance.

I was just having this thought about him. Still has a few more years though. They will get the 10th pick. Ringo make it to 10???
